A great book. My layout is a variation of plan # 79.

Always a bit sad to see something 'published' for free on the internet in this way. That being said, the book was first published in 1956 and Linn passed away in 1980.

I agree, sad. I've been looking for a hard copy with no luck as of yet!

When I first bought my house I had an unfinished basement which was perfectly sized for a large railroad. 45' X' 45', 13.716 meters X 13.716 meters. The most compelling feature of the basement is the centrally located staricase. Unfortunately I had to divide the basement into 3 sections of 15 feet, 1 for the layout, 2 for the playroom for the kids. (My wife's ideas) Cursing

I have almost half of my layout completed and the play room is empty as my kids moved out and every time I walk into the playroom my mind wonders.......

If we decide to retire in this house I will definitely renovate the basement and have the whole basement for my dream layout, ""Plan 94 Eureka and Golden Gate RR""

Linn wrote on the pages of plan 94 Eureka and Golden Gate RR, what kind of railroad would you build if given unlimited funds? If I had a million......

I now realize it is not money that is needed to build a large layout but time. The funds to support the building of a layout alway come somehow. But time, time is the killer of dreams. For now time is on my side and I hope to create plan 94 one day!

Michel

If you feel it's a breach of copyright etc we can get Juhann to remove the post? For some it's the only hope of seeing the contents of this out of print book?

I still have my copy and it's a bit worn. But it is also over 50 years old. I spent a lot of time as a young lad studying it and his other book "Track Planning for Model Railroads".

Actually and oddly none, though I have built many layouts. I only built one layout based on a plan in a book. It was a shelf switching layout from a track planning book from Atlas.
