Never before have so many surviving series 01 steamers been found together in one location.
A series 38 (ex P8) and series 64 thrown in as a bonus.
If you do not understand the German comments, let the pictures speak!
Enjoy!

Schiefe Ebene means Inclined Plane,a socalled Steilstrecke.
Over a distance of 6.8 km (6,800 mtrs) elevation is 158 mtrs, close to 25 promille (25/1000),overcome by standard gauge trains.

German is a Germanic(!) language like English and Dutch.
As such it is not really that hard to understand if you get the basics of it.
Of course, there are specific German words which you have to know by heart.
And,my learning of German at school was a long long time ago,i do not pretend to understand everything.

Most surviving 01 steamers were built in the mid to late thirties and the fact they are still operational is proof of the fantastic design.

Did you notice the post war series 10 steamer in the museum?
And the Glaskasten (=Glasshouse) steamer?
Great stuff,right?

If you tell me which comments you like most giving me the minute/second moment in the clip i can translate.

Note that nouns in German are always spelled with a first capital letter, even in the midst of sentences, this is not done in Dutch, the various Germanic languages have grown apart over the ages.

Cheers,

Paul

The 01 1075 from the SSN in Rotterdam (i am a member) is the 3 cylinder version of the original 01.
The subseries 01 10 have a third cylinder in the frame in between the two others.
Total 55 built,original order was for 204 loco's.
At first with streamline plating, the latter removed after WW2,converted to oil firing, the 01 1075 brought back to coal firing later on.

Note the cylinderrod protectingtube between the frontlamps for the third cylinder.

Yes PJ,i have been away with her several times, also to Amsterdam and beyond.
The nameplate on the cylinderblock says she was delivered for duty in 1940.
Her servicespeed is still close to 130 km/h.
And,like for most women, you have to smell her in order to love her fully!
