Hi everyone,

I recently purchased some more Hornby O gauge items for my collection, and thought somebody else here might be interested.

The first item is a very rare 1936 M0 Mixed Goods train set. Costing 7/6 in 1937, the set contained the smallest oval of track known to man, as well as a clockwork loco and 3 goods wagons. The loco included was the cheapest in the Hornby series, and so had no reverse or front coupling.

The next is a 1948 E502 loco. Only exported to countries such as Australia and Argentina, it was the only electric O gauge engine produced by Hornby after WW2. As such, it is also fairly rare and desirable. Obviously, mine is missing its tender and coupling rods (which I can source), however, what I can't find a replacement for is the gear that sits on the armature shaft, mine of which is completely stripped. If you know where I can get another one of these gears, then I would be very interested.

This sounds like a 3D print project. If you could get the part to someone that does metal 3D printing I'm sure they could sort something out.

I'd venture to say that gears' 3D printing won't be a lasting success in this case;

On the other hand I seem to remember that Meccano/ Hornby were using DP38 gear standard.
I I had a picture and some dimensions, I *may* be able to help you here
can you post a picture of the mechanism showing were the missing gear should be??

Hi Jacques, sorry for the delay.

It looks like the gear is cut into the shaft and is not a separate part. Would it still be possible to make a replacement?

I've attached some pictures below which show the problem and some measurements. Also, the gear has 8 teeth and is the part outlined in red in the diagram.

OK, I know what you need: a whole new rotor.Wink RollEyes
I don't have that part here, since it's not Märklin, sorry
But I have a good friend in Paris who collects Hornby (intensely!! ) and is well plugged into the Hornby Collectors community.
I'll check with him and will let you know.
Cheers
Jacques
