I was writing about the 28cm coaches in my review/comment of the EC Tiziano Sets and it occurred to me that the Restaurant at 28cm is about the prototypical scale length to be correct for use with the older 27cm coaches and I was curious as to whether anybody has tried this.

How do you find the appearance of the new restaurant alongside the older coaches?

I had already used a 4066 SBB EWI alongside the 264mm Eurofimas and EWIV, as the 240mm metal coach is about the right scale length to the 264mm coaches compared to 272mm vs 303mm in exact HO.

Any thoughts on this?

Regards

The coaches of the 264/270 mm type often have fewer compartments and fewer windows, allowing windows to be rendered with the correct aspect ratio - and increased wall widths between windows.

Coaches and diners of the 282 mm type usually have the correct number of windows, but often compromising the aspect ratio of the windows. Interior details and details under the car frame are often simpler than with the shorter coaches.
They often have rivets on the roof, older coaches usually have plain roofs.

Do they match? The length scale is an almost perfect match, the rest depends on the eye of the beholder.
Watch the driving train from 2 metres away and it should be OK.
