We are very happy to share with you all that we had our second “Marklin” get together in India on 17th and 18th of December 2016. This time we were 5 Marklin aficionados and an inquisitive lady (Sharmila) who wanted to know what exactly happens during this meeting and why were we so excited about this. Two of our friends, Ramprasad and Bipin had travelled from two different cities for this meetng. Thanks to this hobby that I met three of them for the first time!

On 17th noon we met at Ashok’s beautiful house where we spent some time with his locos and his temporary layout which has C+M tracks. We seek Ashok’s guidance when we have queries on decoders\electric\electronic queries.

After having played enough, we were treated with delicious South Indian style food by Mrs. Ashok

By noon we started towards Deepak’s house. Deepak, amongst all of us, mainly invests on tracks. Here are few pics why I say so

Deepak had scratch built bridge peers and we used it effectively to build a huge free style layout. It took almost 3 hours for us to build the full layout, check for electrical loose connections before we could run few Markllins and MTHs on this layout. With beer and the delicious snacks, we had a railful evening.

Deepak’s wife had prepared delicious Rajasthan style, vegetarian dinner for us and here are few pics. Must say, she is an amazing chef!! This marked the end of day 1

Day 2: At Gubby Naadu
Next day (Sunday), we all assembled at my house by noon. I gave my MRR friends a tour of GubbyNaadu and an overview of my loco and accessories collection. We also ran MTH triplex on my layout where the loco knocked down my passenger rolling stock because of the R1s and the MTH bumpers

Post lunch, at my place, Bipin shared his experiences and tips while buying on ebay. He also explained how Indian customs tax works and the associated pitfalls. Bipin has a huge collection (300+) of various 2 and 3 rail AC and DC locos and rolling stock. It was an amazing memorable meeting.

FYI: We have a model railroaders Whatsapp group ( the group name is Marklin India though) where the number of members have increased to 22 as compared to 10 last year. We are everywhere :)

Hi guys - I'm sorry I missed this meeting - I was in UK at the time, but I am in Goa most of the time and would definitely like to come to the next whenever that is planned for?
Regards Charles - long time marklin fan.
