Greetings!

I have a not too old 60055 transformer that I would like to use to power lights. My question is how do I get connect it and what do I connect it too? I will not be using it to power anything other than lights. The connector looks like it goes into some king of connector box unlike the older transformers that had a yellow and brown input on the back.

Thanks.

Refer page 2 (bottom image) of the user manual.

In this situation the 60055 is used the same as a 60052.

If the cable you refer to is like the one pictured in the manual (barrel connector) then it is for a Mobile Station or Central Station (60212)

The unit also came with a separate plug for use in bespoke wiring as you desire
If you do not have this, then simply remove the plug from the unneeded cable

Hi- random question but dos anyone know a part number or how I can get the track side (not wall side) cable for these? Or at least the plug that goes into the transformer? I completely lost that and the plug with cable shown above on mine.

These sort of parts are listed on marklins site
Refer: http://www.maerklin.de/s...&artikelnummer=60052

I suspect that it would be quicker/cheaper to just procure the items from an (online) electronics store

Thanks, that helps a lot. In this case, does it matter which of the wires from the dual end wire coming out of transformer I connect for power and ground? Excuse my ignorance but electrical is not my strong point and my wife would get made if I burned down our house.

Look at the pictures in the user manual link posted by clapcott, you can see where they hook up the brown and yellow wires. If the outputs have a label, "0" is for brown and "L" is for yellow.

The issue is that the transformer does not have any outputs that are shown in the manual shown above. It only have one input. See photo. It comes with a plug on one end that goes into the transformer and the barrel end is supposed to go into a mobil station or old CS. I can disconnect the wire with the barrel and then connect a "yellow and brown" wire to the plug. I'm just not sure which side to connect yellow and brown, or if it really matters.

Page two of the manual linked above shows yellow on the right and brown on the left. No issue.

Actually it does not matter.

A transformer gives pure Alternating Current (AC) which means there is no positive or negative terminal. You can connect the output either way.

When using more than one transformer at a time on the same layout it is then important to connect all of them in the same way to avoid "phase issues".

Only for transformers that provide track current for analogue operation.
No "phase issues" with digital operation or transformers for accessories.

Hello,

On this 60055 topic, what can be the reason why such a transformer ceases to put out current?
The transformer is connected to the wall outlet, but there is no current being transferred to the CS2.
Best regards,
Armando García

Hi Armondo, I fixed one of these a while back. From what I remember it had a failed Zener Diode in it. Once I replaced it the unit worked like new.
