Hi all,

So, this year in September I will be turning 50. You all know where I'm going with this...

There was an "Echte Fünfziger" for 1966 last year - does anyone know if there will be a 1967 model for this year? I can't see any sign of one on the Marklin site or in the new items...

I'd love to drop the hint to the family, assuming that there's going to be one this year.

Anyone know?

AFAIK, Märklin do a 37817 every year -- with the appropriate road number, and plaque.
Order it through you local Märklin dealer
Cheers,

Was it not in the NI brochure? It may be in the Summer or herbst brochure then. have a look at last years brochures to see when it was announced.

Alan (who as of yesterday needs a Class 66).

37817 is no longer available. 37837 also available to order but year 1966 - running number is '50 1966'.

Happy 50th Birthday in advance, HVC! BigGrin

I must be missing something here, but is it not better to find a loco you really, really like and make that your 50th b-day gift? You can always drop hints to the family by "accidentally" leaving pictures of it all over the house a month or two before your b-day.

You can even personalize it by going to a shop and have a small plate engraved and then attach it to the loco.

Nevertheless, this loco you mentioned is certainly a beauty. ThumpUp

I think you are missing something, HVC has already indicated that he wants a 50th anniversary locomotive for his 50th birthday.... Not sure why you're trying to convince him otherwise!

Read HVC's first post, he is already doing that.......

There was an order form for the 50th loco that you had to fill out with all of the details to be put on the loco and box - birthday date, name, etc. I don't seem to have a copy of the one I used in 2010 when I got my 50th birthday loco, the best I can do is the online form on the Modellbahn Kramm website.

http://www.modellbahn-kr...?fid=540&artnr=37837

I'm sure Marklin will come to the party with a 50-1967 loco. I know I had the same questions regarding 50-1960, and that loco was eventually announced and made available some time in the middle of 2010, even though my birthday is early in the year.

Last year the 50-1966 37837 loco was announced in the Fall 2016 New Items brochure, so that might happen again this year.

I would talk to your favourite dealer and ask him to verify through Marklin as to when 50-1967 might be available.

Thanks for the replies, everyone!

I'll drop the hint for the order, BigDaddy.

Why the birthday loco - well, I like the BR50, I like weathered locos, and my family never know what to get me for my birthday - what's not to like!?

I have one and can vouch that they are excellent.. They are filled with the current technology, as far as I remember the first one did not have sound, whereas as it is highly likely that yours will have mFx+ and sound..

Mine, courtesy of the family, came with mFx, minimal sound and a smoke unit installed, but I am unsure if our dealer threw that one in for free..

Webmaster and I have the same one.. LOL

A couple shots of 50-1960 (Marklin 37847). There's no sound in the loco apart from a loco's whistle.

I found a copy of the Dutch order form for 37847, not that that will be a lot of help, but might give you some idea of what they want.

Nope, nothing missed, at least from what you indicated.

I am not trying to talk him out of anything - I just don't think you understood what I said.

In any event, to each his own.

I would prefer to pick a special loco rather than have Marklin pick it for me; that's all.

That loco was announced with the Autumn New Items 2016.
It is very likely that "50 1967" will be announced later this year, most likely with the Autumn New Items again.

My point was Herman has already chosen what he wants for his birthday, why try to convince him otherwise especially since that leads the thread to an off topic point. Herman didn't ask for opinions.

Granted you might like something else, but others want a loco with the year of their birth, a display case, and a plaque and certificate with their name on.

As you say, each to their own.

Nice loc, specially the "Wagner" version!
Strange that the Birthday model locs are announced fairly late in the 'fall' new items for the running year as current 2017.

It has arrived! Number 50 1967, and yes, has full sound capabilities (see video below for a demo)

IMG_6158.jpg

certificate with my name on it - cute! ... (as well as on the display case, of course)

Here is it next to a normal black loco to give a better idea of the weathering...

IMGP3398.jpg

No smoke unit, but I'll be putting one in, of course.

And here's a sound demo... (warning, contains boring footage of loco running in circles...)

and a quick clip of incredibly silent running with no sound... just the sound of steel wheels rolling...

Very nice indeed. From the photos it is better than 50 1954 which I have.

So 37837 on the Märklin still shows as sold out and 1966 based.
As my 50th bday is coming up in Dec, am what item that I'm not able to order anymore should I have ordered?

My wife ordered the loco by emailing AJCKids - they were excellent, and speak English (handy). As you say, the part number is for the 1966, but they seem to have pulled it off somehow - I can only assume by talking to Märklin directly.

I would suggest that you contact your friendly Märklin dealer, or email AJCKIDS.com at service1@ajckids.com

Turning 50 next year, in catalouge is says the current 50 year loco is 37837 but says 1972. I assume it's same part number for 1973 in 2023 as well? What delivery time should one expect?

As Herman said in the previous post contact one of the dealers in Stockholm - they will order it for you and ensure the correct year.. It even comes with a display case embossed with your name.. You need to order about six months ahead - my family bought mine for me - many years ago.. Cool
