Years ago I created layouts using N gauge. With advancing years and not so good sight, and with a new grandson en-route I am thinking of creating a layout in HO gauge.

I have an N gauge plan that I would like to use, and wondered if it was possible to upscale from N to HO and if so, is there an easy way to achgieve this?

Thanks

I don't know of any particularly good way to scale up a track plan from N to HO gauge. I'm in the process of using a Z scale plan to build an HO plan. If your using C track for the HO layout, I try to find the track pieces on the smaller gauge that correspond to pieces on the large gauge, if there is part #'s on the Z scale track plan. Not sure if that made a whole lot of sense, but perhaps some of the guys with track design software experience can add some useful information.
Best Regards,
Matthew

If your plan uses sectional track you may find that the geometry of the HO track system you intend to use may not match the N gauge version exactly.

The way I have adapted track plans in the past is to use the general shape of the plan I am copying and try and design it using the the HO track pieces instead. You may find you end up with a slightly different track arrangement.

Thanks everyone

Yes Ray, I had just found that, so I will use one of the design programmes and copy it as closely as I can.
