I am new to Marlin (and the forum!). I recently bought an older analog set (7955) which was missing some of the track. The shop owner supplied the missing pieces from his stock. While doing so, he pointed out that the the bottom edge of the metal roadbed on some of the track was bent inward at a 90 degree angle, whereas other pieces (which looked (to me) identical otherwise, had the bottom metal edge folded inward and over completely (folded flat back against the inside of the roadbed). The shop owner supplied me with track that matched what was in the box, and i forgot to ask him if the difference was important.

Then i came home and found this site, and here i am.

Can you tell me if that is just a minor revision of the M-track, or is there a fundamental difference? Interchangeable?

P.S. i need to fill out my profile. i am retired steel mill engineer (not train driver) and maintenance guy.

Thank you

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

The tracks are fully interchangeable and the only difference it what you see. The change was made for security reasons: The older type has sharp edges which are not longer suitable for toys.

Regards

Markus

Herr Schild, thank you! That seems so logical now that you have explained it.
Regards and hope to correspond in the future.
