An Italian tilting train derailed at the Lucerne (Switzerland) station today: http://www.20min.ch/schw...howid=203135&index=0 Apparently nobody was injured.

The report has been updated to include a handful of injuries. Apparently, the trainset was leaving the station and transiting the station tracks in order to leave en route to Olten and Basel when it derailed and knocked over one catenary mast. Photos on the 20min.ch website also show the Re 460 Credit Suisse/Gottardo 2016 with an IR/IC and a BLS Loetschberger trainset in the same general area. It is not known whether either of these two trains were involved in the incident or simply required to stop as a result of the ETR 610 derailment.

The accident has caused major delays and disruption to routes to and from Luzern.

I'd venture to say that this could be a switch malfunction/ untimely switching
At that spot (that bridge happens to be one of my fav spots to look at RR traffic when in Luzern!) Luckily trains are not running much faster than 40 km/h.

Yes, a switch malfunction seems to be one of the prime possible reasons. People looking at the pictures closely say that the derailed car went one way and the following cars proceeded on the other track. Somehow like on a model layout.
