Posting this as I know collectors will enjoy. Wonderful collection came up for sale on eBay from an estate of a WWII soldier shipped back shortly following the war. From the box stamps items seem to date from 1947/48. Here's my favorite the crocodile:

also an early 310 in a rare box: https://rover.ebay.com/r...7%3Ag%3AUwwAAOSwuxFYzuEN I know my uncle had one that he sold and it fetched over a $1,000.

Enjoy!

Hi Steven,

So it is at least original. There are no CCS from these early years which are undamaged. Also the model in the Märklin museum is rebuild with a Ritter- chassis.

These models should be seen like shards from antique earthenware. Unusable but still collectable and valuable in some cases.

Regards

Markus

That is very true regarding the frames. Only once have I had personally an early CCS 800 frame that could be made functional. There is also a new production frame out of the US from this seller which appears to be high quality zinc like the original:

Thanks for sharing. Strange ad. Also, I feel like investing $28,000 in a 1940's crocodile frame mold does not seem like the most profitable of business plans! But thank goodness someone is keeping the old girls running...

The CCS 800/3015 are not equipped with flanges on the extreme wheels (under the cab).

buyer might be worrying about CCS800 broken up to piece if shipping parcel dropping or accident.

Overall I agree too the prices were very low for all the Marklin that he sold on that day. With replaced frames costing maybe $500 the loco should still be worth at least $3,000 in the box. A mint-in-box (replaced or original parts) would be worth over $5,000.

Box = 500/600 u$s

Instructions 100/150 u$s (each fold) 500/600 u$s

Pantograph x 2 = 500 u$s

Case and hoods = 1000 u$s

Motor + relay + electric circuit = 600/700 u$s

Other parts = 300 u$s
