Hi guys, I picked up a very nice RS 800 N which only needs new couplers. I noticed the body says ES 800 so I would like to add both front and rear trucks as I think it would look more balanced with them. I was on the Ritter site but it shows 2 different couplers which fit both the RS and ES. Which is the right one . How is the coupler fixed to the truck if you have to put it through the body first. Also one coupler needs a centring spring and the other does not. I cant find any info on the web or from Marklin. Eddie Confused

Hi Eddie,

Maybe this picture helps you:

https://www.michelstaedt...es/org/ES800-16765-3.jpg

Look at the left side. There you see the two screws. The one nearer to the slider holds the truck and the other screw holds the coupler. You first mount the bogie and the coupler afterwards.

I don't have a RSN or a ES so I don't know excatly which coupler is needed.

Regards

Markus

Thanks Markus , I guess the coupler must have threads in the hole for a bolt to go through the truck and catch the coupler.

I recently restored my ES 800, it runs but one wheel is still loose so I have to repair that then I'll make a video of it running.

You're correct the coupler is threaded - here's some photos to show that:

Adding the trucks does balance out the loco but for track performance the 2 trucks cause derailments. On my loco one is a replica truck (that I case from pewter) and the other is original.

Paul, thanks for pictures of your loco. Now I also know which is the correct coupler. EddieThumpUp
