What a great historical document. The men are more interesting than the machines. Not a hard-hat in sight--flat caps were clearly the fashion, although there is plenty ex-army clothing and headgear on view. The Sound Track mentions that the site was underlain by the brick arches of the stables. They must have housed the dozens of great dray horses that pulled the beer wagons to the pubs from the St. Pancras undercroft which was a beer storage and distribution centre for beer in barrels from the Midlands. It is now, fittingly, a bar under the St. Pancras Eurostar terminal.
Thanks. Jabez
