Hi, newish to the forum, I've come into an amount of Marklin stock - I have some OBB coaches, but what I'd appreciate knowing is what loco is reasonably compatible to run in front of these? I have a 3041 which, if memory serves right, has been converted to digital, but can't work out if this 'goes'.

I also have a smart set 42723 but my thinking is loco 3041 would look anachronistic next to it - or am I wrong? And should I care!

thanks

First, you can of course always do as you like.

The 3041 with the old ÖBB logo and this livery may have pulled trains in real life with Schlierenwagen, which the 4034 and 4128 are models of having a more modern ÖBB logo. I don't know for sure. For the 42723 set I would not use the 3041.

If you could get hold of a set 37417 - it was produced in 2011 and is sold out from Märklin - then I would use the 37417-01 (1043.006-4) with the 42723 set and 37417-02 (1043.001.-5) with the 4034 and 4128 coaches.

What the set 37417 looks like can be seen from this link. Please note that I just did a quick search on pictures at Google and found this link. There could be other stores in other countries that may have it.
