Hello...

I'm beginner for Marklin programming.
I have a few questions.

1. Which PC software do you use for marklin programming track with CS2?
2. Where can I find this software? Need to buy or download?
3. To use PC software is better than Ipod app?

Thank you.

Hello,
Not sure what you mean. You do not need any software to program Marklin locos on the programming track. If you mean what software is needed to control trains on a layout then that is a different question.

Roger

There is computer program similar to iPod application, provided by Maeklin free of charge. It is called CS2.exe and can be downloaded from Maerklin web site.

Märklin has a free PC software that mimics the CS2 screens on a PC, means that you can control the CS2 via PC instead of the built in CS2 touch screen.

Here is the link to it.

There is also a Mac version.

Since in your original post you say that you are new to Marklin, I'm still not sure what your actual questions are. With the CS2 you do not need a PC or any special software to run trains, operate turnouts, control signals and more on your layout or program locos on the programming track.

However, if you have a permanent layout and want to automate your trains you can either use free software such as Rocrail or purchase model railroad control software such as TrainController or many others. However, all of these programs require feedback sensors of one form or another in order to know where the trains are and what sections/blocks of track are free, etc.

Perhaps you can explain a little more what you are trying to achieve and what you have setup so far.

Peter

Thank you Peter.

Yes.
As your reply, I want to know which software need to use for train automated control.

Are PC softwares (rocrail, traincontroller etc.) necessary for automation or
automation system can work with just CS2?

For which functions people do need software?
Why many guys do use software not just with CS2?

And You said 'all of these programs require feedback sensors of one form or another in order to know
where the trains are and what sections/blocks of track are free, etc.'

Feedback sensors means S88 decoder & Circuit Track?

Sorry for my begginer level question.

Best Regards.

The CS2 can do routes and basic automation and yes feedback means S88 (circuit detection) or you can use contact tracks.

If you want to do realistic automation you will need PC control.

I suggest doing a thread search as this topic has been covered and you can find more information such as this:

You can also use reed switches with a magnet placed on a loco or car. Viessmann also have an S88 which can detect current being drawn within a section of track (Viessmann 5233).
