I received a new 37767 today. I noticed that there are scratch marks on three areas of the locomotive. All of them are on the front and on the side. They are all behind the small pieces of cotton and the plastic clam shell. There is no paint on the pieces of cotton. I'm guessing that after the paint has dried, they didn't wait long enough for the paint to cure. So the clam shell pushed the pieces of cotton onto the lok and damaged the paint.

This is the second time that it happens to me.Cursing I bought a 39863 last October and it had similar problem. Andrew from AC Euro Trains was nice enough to replace the shell.

Has anyone noticed this problem? BTW, both loks were made in Hungary.

Looks very much like the locomotive was placed in the plastic cradle in such a manner that the end caps of the plastic liner caused friction wear on the side of the locomotive cabs. This would be grounds for the item to be returned to the dealer or to the manufacturer for replacement. If the dealer is willing to order a replacement shell, that should also be a suitable solution.
