Hi all,

After recently converting my Trix 22117 to AC with sound and discovering it had the same traction issue on ramps/corners as my other Marklin BR38 (26549) I found that the previous solution of using an 'A' axle with traction tires in the 'C' axle position was unavailable as a spare part.

I began investigating the root cause over on Stummis forum to see if they had cracked the problem and a gentleman named 'bjb' had indeed found the solution.
Unfortunately being in German and the pictures no longer being available made it difficult but fortunately he replied to my message with pictures.

The cause:

the second axle in the leading truck has a flange that is ever so slightly too 'tall'. This grinds against the plastic brake part, causing a loss of traction.

The fix:

file or grind away the end of the flange slightly. I did this with a dremel, bjb did it with a hand file. Not much needs to be removed. It really is that easy and shows why it was easily fixed on later revisions.

Original stummi forum thread:

Pictures from my Trix BR38 showing where the flange had been rubbing, what needs to be filed and then after grinding it back:

Again, huge thanks to bjb as he was the one who discovered the cause, I am just posting here to share with Marklin users as this fix has not been posted here yet.
