I am pretty happy with the 2017 offerings, but there are a few models that still have not seen the light of day.

Aside from the 47081 Hupac/Vos Logistics set, which was for the Dutch market only, I have not seen any other 4 axle Hupac Sgns container cars. I would also love to see some more AAE container cars leased to companies who run through Switzerland, especially as those models can also be used on layouts with German, French, Belgian, Italian, Dutch or other themes too. http://www.laborsadeltre.../marklin%2047081.1.1.jpg

I have cars from Fleischmann (SBB Cargo and Hupac) and Roco (SBB Cargo) but need more Hupac or AAE to complete that train.

I was happy to see the compromise RAlpin Begleitwagen. This will work well with my 47416/417, especially for nighttime use (lighted). The ACME coach will likely see daytime use.

I still want to see a converted SBB EWIV AS (Service coach) which would be a simple repaint/modified interior of an existing EWIV coach, which would complete all of the SBB push-pull sets (42179/42164/42152+42160+42179).
http://www.laborsadeltre...les/347/ROCO%2045326.jpg

I would still love to see a 9 car set of Weiacher Kies cars in 1960s/1970s livery to run behind my Crocodile. I have two sets of the 46331, but the visible car numbers are an annoyance that a third set would aggravate. Matter of fact, make it a set with a green crocodile and 6 to 9 cars and I'll take it.
https://bahnbilder.ch/pictures/original/10553.jpg

Here are a few other models that we have not seen yet:

Re 420 Cargo for domestic operation (not the international Re 421) http://www.bahnbilder.de...bereits-cargo-715089.jpg
Re 4/4III SOB with matching Lightsteel coaches http://www.trainweb.org/re2/0241-27w.JPG
Re 436 in new Crossrail colours with Ewals containers on AAE cars http://www.bahnbilder.de...111-9-sara-re-646478.jpg
Re 6/6 Green (1975-1993) with round headlights and full sound http://www.railfaneurope...en/11650-89/SBB_Re_6.jpg
Re 6/6 Red (11605-11611) Passenger Division (2000-2004) (not Re(f) 6/6 like 37322)
http://www.railfaneurope...05-19/11611_240801rp.jpg
Sleeping Cars in 282mm (T2S or MU)

and my personal wish… A set containing one 1st class and three 2nd class SBB lightsteel cars (43361/43371/43381) with digitally controlled opening doors and lights.

What would you like to see down the road?

Regards

Mike C

Seeing as you're asking, honestly, yes it is far too early to start thinking about what we want to see in the 2018 new items! BigGrin

We have still to learn what we might see in the Summer and Fall new items, so some of your "wants" might be satisfied there.

I always find it fascinating how specific your wish list is, Mike. In an ideal world I might have narrowed down my collection to a certain era or geographical area but I would always have been too tempted by 'nice' models falling outside those parameters. The way you research exact train compositions for specific routes is very interesting and a great example of how focussed the hobby can be. Good for you!

It probably is too early to start thinking about 2018 New Items, but since we are I'd love to see a reissued / new 1 gauge Br103.

Whether I could afford it is another matter!

I'm also still waiting for Marklin to issue a 30470 Blue Box reissue of the 3047 Br44.

I see there is a 30390 E10 in this year's new items, but to me the 3039 was always a blue loco, not the Cream / Teal blue loco that they've issued, so if Marklin wants to issue a proper blue E10 I would not complain.

Yes I thought that too. Mind you 3039 are pretty common on the second hand market so I guess they wanted to do something new...

I was discussing the new items with a friend and mentioned that I thought the 39460 Re 460 was of possible interest, since most of my Re 460s have the "2000" markings on the cab ends and this is no longer the case in real life. He was nice enough to ask me whether I should go for this new model, which is similar to the 37462 or wait for a new model with the latest livery… Gee thanks.

Well, since my request for a TransRapid in DB colors went unanswered for 2017, I'll ask for it again (and tracking for it).

Additionally, a Zugspitzbahn cog-rail. But in the interim, the 37584 BR 491 will have to do for my layout plans.

There are some potential models I would like to buy. For only few of those items Märklin is the preferred manufacturer. I don't care if the items come 2017, 2018, 2019 or later. I don't mind if they come from Roco, Fleischmann, or Piko.

The only shortened model I might buy from Märklin would be the Flying Hamburger SVT 04.0 in DB livery. This would be a nice addition to the SVT 04.5 Bauart Hamburg I already have from Märklin.

I want a model of 120 005. LS Models announced it years ago, but I am unsure if it will ever be delivered.
Märklin's new 37528 is the worst "model" of class 120.0 Märklin ever made and if 120 005 would come in that style I would definitely not buy it.

I want a model of BR 42 in DB livery. I would have preferred Roco, but most likely I will buy the Märklin model this year. One entry gone from my wishlist.

Roco announced a yellow GATX tank car. I'm still looking for a red GATX tank car. I already have enough tank cars, but some of the 2017 new items are tempting.

This thread was actually inspired by a post in the German Stummi Forum. I thought it would be fun and a little tongue in cheek to start a similar topic here, hence the question as part of the topic title. Nobody is bored by the new items, just looking for comments on what else people might like to see, etc.

Well, I for one, was expecting to see an era II BR 18.5 to go with my era II Rheingold coaches.
Also I was hoping to see the newly retooled class 120 in original era IV livery (red and beige).

Hopefully, we will see them next year.

Something that is really overdue are the retooled turnout and bumper lanterns with warm white LEDs (instead of the current urine-yellow ones). Hope Märklin is listening.

...And the retooling of the famous E 94 may be just around the corner.

I wish for the trend to continue to bring back reproductions of models from the 60's and 70's. I love them all! Please bring back 3027, 3045, 3046 and 3047!
Best regards,
Armando García

Hopefully not. At least not with the mould they currently have.

In the beginning Märklin used trucks with rectangular sand boxes for 120.0 models and trucks with triangular sand boxes for 120.1 models. So far so good.

It seems at some stage the mould for the pre-series trucks broke and since then all 120.0 come with incorrect triangular sand boxes.
But they still used different bodies for 120.0 (no holes to fill the sand boxes) and 120.1 (holes to fill sand boxes).

The 37528 is the first Märklin "model" that combines a pre-series number with a main-series body and main-series trucks.
I see those differences at normal viewing distance and I do care about them.
I was hoping to see the return of pre-series trucks.

Tom

Okay. That makes sense.

I was worried that there was something technically wrong with the model. The feedback I have heard has been very good with regards to the new motor and so on.

I would expect the loco from the Orient Express set from late last year to appear possibly this year in the Summer or Herbst new items, but more probably in next years New Items. It will definitely come out as an individual loco at some point - the amortization of the development costs means that they can't avoid doing it - but how long it will take remains to be seen, but I don't think it will take too long.

Roco made DB coaches with digitally controlled doors a few years ago.
It seems that did not work well and there were no re-runs in the past few years.

This is more easy for single-piece doors. They never did that for DB coaches with folding doors.

C-track expansion:
The long double slip for C-track, 24924.

C-Flexi-track or a superwide curve, maybe 2500 mm radius and 6 degrees.

C-track 6 degree (or around there) R9 (24906).

A blue-black-red DM3 locomotive (Kiruna-Narvik Iron-ore-line), but if Roco comes first with a second run of that modell, I'll buy it.

Re: Kiruna-Narvik, I was watching a Canadian TV production "Mighty Trains" which was about the Green Cargo/Schenker Fish Train from Northern Norway to Oslo via Sweden.
I was surprised that the Iron ore trains were not the "Mighty Trains" of that episode.

So far, I saw an episode about the Glacier Express which kept jumping between MGB and RHB traction (poor editing), another one about the White Pass line between Skagway Alaska and Fraser BC, one about the VIA Canadian and one about the Shinkansen. In that episode, there was a reference to a maglev train which omitted that such a train already exists in Shanghai. I think that the series also did an episode on the "Ghan" in Australia too.

I would think that the Gotthard line would definitely be on my list of mighty trains, both in terms of the base tunnel and the classic line.
I would also consider the Transsiberian to be a mighty train.

Maybe Maerklin should do a "Mighty Train" edition?

In my opinion, it is not to early to ask. Marklin (and other manufacturers) do require lead time to get a factory order in.
I'd like to see a Canadian Pacific F3/F7 passenger set in the Maroon and Gray color scheme. No new molds are needed, just paint masks.

Mike, not Märklin related

pretty much the same wishlist but not as many locos, more of the container wagons, actually a lot more,

you've mentioned a Begleitwagen, is there any manufacturer who does a BLS Begleitwagen or are they all from SBB.

When I get enough money together I would like to purchase about 40 double carriages from Rocky rail and this would be a start. Vectron from Roco (BLS) and I would like also another Re 4/4 from HAG but most of them on ebay have the same loco number: 261, there is a HAG SBB Re 460 on offer at a reasonable price but had to buy so many screws for my new garage most of the spending money is gone and since we will alter some of the track configuration and Overhead system another A$ 800.00 is gone.

my concentration will be mainly on the layout over the next 2 years, make sure it runs without to many faults or hassles and this means plenty of videos with various train compositions from the DB, ÖBB, SBB (BLS) and SNCF but in meantime there is another holiday in the horizon and we would like to re-visit England for a 3 month period with trains but not model trains.

I hope Märklin would come with new C-track having concrete sleepers. This what is used on most mainlines in Europe today and on many high speed lines (unless ballast free track is used and I don't expect that in H0-scale).

Yeah, its late 2017, but I was just looking over what key elements I'm missing for my fleet and there is a glaring hole that only seems to be filled by old Roco offerings.

Would love a new BR01 with a coreless DC motor that doesn't take up all the cab space and in era3a 52-55 livery with dual healights and witte deflectors.

I know it won't happen though given how many BR01's are on the market, even though none have been done in era3a livery.

Otherwise a V200 in era3a livery would be great and very easy to do, just need to change the existing mould for 2 headlights. No one makes that either.

Some I would like are:

BR 18.2
BR 18.4 new tooling
Weathered green Croc Ce 6/8 II with cabin light and telex coupler. If pantographs can be remotely controlled, is also super.
LNER Class A4 4468 Mallard
DHG 500 new tooling with full details, sound, telex and cabin light in light blue.

Better close couplers compatible with the ones in use today.

I have almost all Märklin and mostly HO, although I do have a small number of Z gauge trains!
So many trains and so little time.

A catenary maintenance train ala BR 711.1 would be cool as well;

Ah my friend, it is good to dream. BigGrin

But with Märklin making the Challenger just last year I doubt that we will see another USA steamer for a very long time. I hope that I am wrong, but remember that it was 16 years between the first Big Boy and the Challenger!

Maybe Maerklin should do a "Mighty Train" edition?

If that is the same as the "Extreme Railway Journeys" with Chris Tarrant, yes he did one on the iron ore trains from Sweden to Narvik.
But I have not seen the fish one.

Anyway, I am sure Marklin can broaden their world-wide customer base with a "Mighty Train" series.
It would certainly be a stand-out in the current (yawning) crop of re-runs, diferent versions of different versions etc.

Hi,

I would love for Marklin to release more Orient Express coaches. I wasn't much into trains when Marklin released the blue Orient Express coaches a couple years ago and I wasn't willing to pay the high (to me) second-hand prices. I was fortunate to get the 26922 set with the Baden IVh and brown teak coaches last year. I think it would be great for Marklin to introduce new blue Orient Express coaches to go with the new 241a. Someone else mentioned this as well.

I completely forgot about this one: https://upload.wikimedia...hberger_freigestellt.png

To date, there is no model of this type of trainset from any manufacturer. The downside is that there are only limited variations and AFAIK this type of trainset only exists with the BLS.
The "Loetschberger" is as updated variant of the earlier "Nina" trainsets. The so-called Niederflur Nahverkehrszug (NINA) very quickly became the name for the BLS' new grey, blue and light green livery.

All I would like to see are cheap replacement pantographs and a re-issue of catenary masts for M track bridges (7011) but then I live in a world where anything could happen...or not, as the case may be.

Ahhh - I was indeed forgetting the Mikados, so maybe there is hope. BigGrin

There are several North American locos which I would have to buy if Märklin made them, so I do hope that your dream comes true. Cool

I can ask for an Australian loco until the cows come home :P

So at that point, whatever they put out I'll likely find something I enjoy!

Yes, so that would be in size between two Marklin tank engines.
Larger than a BR89 (Marklin 37141 etc) and smaller than a BR 75 (37132)

A small tank engine like that would be good, and not too complicated for the manufacturer.

I know that British locos are rare or nonexistent in the world of Märklin, but how about an LM&S Patriot, based on the same chassis as the Royal Scots?

They are both IMO among the most beautiful and coolest steam locos ever made. It sure would be a way to shake up Märklin's lineup. Since no prototypes remain, the rivet counters would be at a distinct disadvantage, cutting Märklin some slack on development cost. BigGrin
