I did a bit of kitbashing to get the FALLER 120535 Bietschtalbrücke kit to be half decent.

I have been building Faller kits for about 40 years and I was rather disappointed by the quality of this kit. Despite those issues I was able to make it into the impressive bridge it should be. Details can be found here:

Thanks for the great review of that kit. For what you have to pay for that kit you shouldn't have to do all the modification and upgrades to it that you pointed out. Thanks for taking the time to document the process of making this bridge truly impressive.

Sorry Dale,

I would recommend the original source, the FALLER homepage. There is not only the correct name (Bietschtal bridge, not Beitschtal - in German it makes a difference) to read. It also explains where you find this bridge in real life in Switzerland.

Have a look here

http://www.faller.de/App...etschtalbr%C3%BCcke.html

and enjoy this magnificent bridge. It really is a very nice one.

But the bridge is not brown. Have a look here:

and here with several pictures

and for me very interesting some technical informations

Excellent build Dale!

Despite the challenges, which would have put me off, you manage to build an excellent piece.

I do like the color you chose and the LED lighting is brilliant.

thanks for the correction of the typo (which also then copied into the URL and other places!), I have fixed it now.

Yes, I am well aware that the prototype is not rusty. It also also curved. I looked at a lot of the images before I built it and it certainly seems much bigger than the kit. I was not trying to copy the prototype, just making a nice bridge on my layout.

Thanks for the tips in building the bridge. I was at a stopping point on mine, but will now renew my efforts.

I've been to the bridge itself. Unlike US railways the Swiss maintain their bridges better than yours, but I do admire the weathering. BigGrin

Aaaahhhh Dale,

your word "bashing" misleaded me - sorry again.Crying Indeed I would say, you made your own construction on the basis of the "Bietschtalbrücke". Because as you mentioned, you use it as a direct track bridge, whereas the original one is a curved bridge. Anyway, good idea and decision and your construction looks very nice too.
