Good morning from Ireland,

I recently acquired this in a collection of o gauge railway pieces. A previous owner had used the motor to convert a Clockwork O gauge locomotive to an electric powered locomotive with moderate success. Does any of you knowledgeable people know who the manufacturer was?

John

Hi John,

I am confident that motor is originally from a Märklin loco, most likely an Electric outline model because there are no mounts for steam coupling rods. Take a look at this comparison on a CS66/13020, you can see very distinctive design similarities especially in the reversing lever design.

The spoon pickups are also very similar to other Märklin styles, the number of spokes and the general high quality of it.

Try doing a google search on "Maerklin spur 0" and select Images, you'll soon see plenty of examples.

Hope this helps

Steve,

Nice to hear from you again. Thank you for the information. There certainly are design similarities. From the image you have sent it would indicate that this is from a very early model. I now have to decide what to do with the motor. I do not have any vintage Marklin items that I could use it with or to repair.

Happy New Year from Ireland.

John

Most are from O gauge 4 wheels electric locomotives.

Something like this.

Thanks Steven,

It would be nice if I could find a body for it. It would make a nice display piece.
