As I understand correctly the Märklin K84 decoder 60840 is used to switch permanent 'current draw' stuff like lamps etc.

And also, the decoder gets it digital signals and power from the track. (other options are mentioned though)

When using a Central Station, this means that both locs and all peripherals switched by the decoder draw their power from the CS.

Question:
To save the CS power (48VA) for loc use, I would like to make a so called 'dedicate power net' for the K84/83 decoders.

As the CS also has a program rail output (I think about 1 Amp. according to manual) I would like to 'abuse' this extra VA's

I am not using the program track so I would like to use this circuit to supply the decoders with it (power and digital signal).

Can this be done this way, using the CS program track outputconfused

Hello Gert Jan,

yes it is possible with Viessmann decoders, also you can use a Delta control as booster with your Central Station, so you can save at 2 ways power.

i use both and all my switches are working with it.

Greetings,

Walter

OK, clear with the Viessmann 5213. I think that will be my choice and use my old 6002 Transformer 52 VA just like that for feeding current Smile

Davy, can you comment on WHY it is not possible to use the 'program rail output' to connect K84 decoders dedicated ???
Isn't the 'program rail output' not just a second, 1 A output?
