I just bought the 4508 "Kuhlwagen" The roof is grey on the sides but white on the top. Is the colour worn off ?

Did someone here paint or spray the roof grey, if so what colour did you use ?

If you do a search on Google, you can see several examples of this roof color variant. So I believe it could be the original roof color in place.

I also actually think the first early versions of it might have had the same roof color as the 4509 Banana wagon (=white).

Our esteemed "Webmaster" is correct - the Kühlwagen is original.

But, I don't think that the white Kühlwagens were earlier - Below are my notes on the wagon:

The early versions of the Kühlwagen had a grey toned roof, but the later ones (I think after 1970) had plain white roofs.
All wagons from the building kit 4908 (regardless of year) had a plain white roof as well.
The Kühlwagen also had a white roof when it was sold in a starter set.

Sounds plausible, my thought regarding possible roof similarity with 4509 (banana wagon) was based on the fact that I have an early 60's 4509 but not the 4508. Smile
