This morning in the northern part, near the city of Groningen.

A milktruck departing from a farmhouse ran into a local train on a non-secured crossing.
It would seem only a couple of people have been wounded this time.

Please see the twelve individual pictures in the news coverage.

Update:

11 wounded carried to hospital.
Traindriver and truckdriver escaped unharmed.

I am starting to see a pattern here.. Travelling by train in the Netherlands is dangerous.. I expect that is why the natives travel by bicycle and leave the scary trains to tourists.. Blushing

The milktruck thought he was bigger than the train, but he found his instant karma!

And: so many natives can't be wrong..........

Weeeee that would have been an exciting ride for the passengers, it was lucky the train didn't tip into the drainage ditch, that would have had the potential of some serious injuries if the train had heeled right over.

Some seriously wounded are still in hospital.
This weekend will be used to install heavy cranes in order to remove the train and lorry, and restore the track.
Railtraffic should be normal again on Mondaymorning.

These are the kind of single track stretches one would think nothing will ever happen.
The countryside is nice and quiet, the cows are staring at you, your fellow passengers are half asleep, and once and a while you stop at a small station in the middle of nowhere.
I have been on a similar stretch between Groningen and Delfzijl many times before.

I guess the two drivers must have seen eachother well before the collision,so why did it happen?

Maybe they have just been milked, and are wondering what's going to happen next.
