I was reading the Marklin data sheet for this turnout:

Inner curve: R3 = 515 mm / 20-1/4" / 30°. Outer curve: 30° with a parallel curve spacing of 64 mm / 2-1/16"

I am a little perplexed as to the what radius this turnout will connect R3 to R2 only or can it be used to to connect R3 to R4? Has anyone tried connecting R4 to R5 on a 180 degree curve? From what I am reading this connection to R4 to R5 can only be done on straightaways.

You can use these turnouts to connect R3 to R4 in the same way as you use the older curved turnouts to connect R1 to R2.

The inner and outer curves both have a radius of R3. The outer is an R3 30 degree curve with a 64mm straight on the end that joins with the inner curve.

The users manual shows the basic R3 to R4 connection

The best perspective is shown on Page 245 of the 2015/2016 Catalogue.
(someone else may point you at a scan)

For R2 to R3, you use 24671/2 and a 24077 straight in the middle

And just to re-emphasise the point in case it is not clear, the 24771/2 cannot be used alone. You need 2 x 24315 for each!
So while it is titled a 30 degree solution, it can only be put into practice as a 45 degree solution

I don't understand why you are confused as there are diagrams that show R3 to R4 connections, and IIRC there are also diagrams for R4 to R5. IIRC both diagrams are in the most recent full catalogue.
