Hi Could anybody give me some information about a model I have just purchased. It's in a wooden box, on the front it says '850 Jahre Goppinger Barbarossa-Urkunde' inside is a box wagon and a small silver colour coin. It looks new, but from the date about 12 years old. It cost me £20 and it look great, I think its for show more then running.

Better late than never. I can't enlighten you on the model, but in 2004 Goeppingen celebrated the 850th anniversary of the oldest extant documentary mention of its name in 1154 during the reign of the Hohenstauffen Emperor Frederick I, or Barbarossa as he is commonly called. (His name of course was appropriated for the operational title of the gigantic and ultimately disastrous German invasion of the USSR in 1941.) The model and coin were presumably issued by Maerklin of Goeppingen at the time of this 850th anniversary. See here for an interesting account of the town history, if your German is up to it: http://www.hotel-goldene...850-jahre-goeppingen.htmEdited by user 02 November 2016 17:51:34(UTC)

That's very interesting. Unfortunately my German skills are very small but at least I can relate to a point in time, I brought the item fro a private seller in th uk who was clearing a house in Germany, I am not sure where.
Thank you once again
