Marklin must have one hell of lot of items in their warehouse if it takes a week to do a stock take

http://www.maerklinshop.de/

Not available due to annual stocktaking!

Due to annual stocktaking our shop currently is closed. New orders can be placed as of May 7th. We regret this delay and ask for your understanding. Your Marklin online shop team

May be unrelated...
For some reason the .de product database is also offline - "no items found for search" (.en appears ok)

Thursday is a bank holiday in Germany and many workers take a day off on Friday. Some workers take the whole week off.
"May 7th" suggests they plan to work on Friday - or at least they blocked it as a reserve.
Regards
Tom

Isn't today (Monday) also a holiday (May day?).

Only in East Germany.
May Day is a big day in the communist calendar. It is recognition of the workers and laborers.

Era 3
DB lokos, coaches and freight cars from across Europe
But I do have the obligatory (six) SBB Krocs
ECoS 50200, all FX and MFX decoders replaced with ESU V4s, operated in DCC-RailCom+ with ABC brake control.
With the exception of the passenger wagens with Marklin current conducting couplers, all close couplers have been replaced with Roco 40397.

May day is May 1st. May 2nd is an ordinary working day in both Western and Eastern Germany.
We do not get a free Monday if bank holidays are on a Sunday. Bad luck this year.

You could almost make a lifetimes work studying bank holidays and public holidays in Europe. The majority of my working life was spent in the international transport business and especially at this time of year the differing "rules" country by country were frustrating. Having a truck miss a pm delivery slot on a Wednesday because of holiday traffic for the following day "Ascension day" which is followed by buckshee Friday then the weekend is somewhat expensive- almost following the well known acronym - See you next Tuesday. I remember in 2005 we had an extra bank holiday on May 8th and I was on the phone to a very good customer a German freight forwarder and I asked if it was to be a holiday In Germany to be told in a curt but friendly way that I may not be surprised to learn that they did not celebrate the 60th anniversary of Victory in Europe day - oops.
