you'd have to be a collector to be willing to pay a high price like that

IMHO it looks like it has been made from a Marklin-Primex 3185 Bayerische Zugspitzbahn

Don't look back, your not heading that way.

Well, the seller in antiquetoys1, and this is a prime example of why he is derided by a number of members here.

As Glenn points out, it is a Primex item (as evidenced by what has been written on the Uhlenbrock 'certificate') and has been digitized by Modellbahn of Towcester, which suggests the item (but not conclusively admittedly) was part of a lot from Warwick and Warwick, for which he has probably paid about a third to half what he is offering this item for. If it has been made from a Primex 3185 then it is a 'kitbash' using the two cab end from a double unit set.

If it was part of one of the lots from the auctions that a number of members here attended then there were a number of items which had been repainted and modified and this seller was listing them at ridiculous prices, even though they have no value above the standard catalogue item. The repaints are not neccessarily that good either.

It certainly was not a Marklin Museum item in 1991, which suggests it is in an incorrect box. Note that there is no catalog number quoted. There were a number of items in those auctions in incorrect boxes, all from the same original owner as I suspect this came from, who was known for purchasing all sorts of eclectic items.

I wasn't aware of this seller but I pretty much thought it was a made up train because the paint doesn't look very good and plenty of other pointers. He also has a second one of those and several other listings that provide good reading material for a boring raining afternoon but not necessarily for purchase. :)

Disappointing to hear that this seller has many issues with members here. I had not, but this latest "creation" makes me wonder as to the integrity of the seller. I had previously written I had no issues with the seller, that still stands, however I am now a little more hesitant buying again.
