That is fantastic! Thanks for posting this Goofy.

Curious how the train ran so slowly across the bridge at 13:00. I can't decide if it was to protect the bridge, or let the passengers enjoy the view.

Nice find. I couldn't work out where the guy piloting the drone was, and ended up wondering if he was on the train. Certainly the sound seemed to be recorded on the loco.

It does seem to have been made up of a number of runs of the train. They went across the same railway crossing twice, the first time a flag man stopped the traffic, the second time they seemed to go through the same crossing at speed.

The number of coaches varied. Sometimes there were four six wheeled coaches and two bogie ones, other times five six wheeled coaches with two bogie ones. The early scenes had the loco running forwards with its back end attached to the bogie coaches, later it was running forwards with its back end attached to the six wheeled coaches. Then the latter have seemed to be the return run with the loco running backwards attached to the bogie coaches, starting off with five six wheelers, later dropping to four six wheelers.

I was impressed with the shot of the raptor at the end of the first bridge scene, that had come to investigate what this drone was invading its territory.

I had the impression that more than one drone were used, probably launching a second drone as the batteries on the first one were running down, so they could get close to continuous filming.

But a great piece of filming. ThumpUp ThumpUp ThumpUp

Hello Anders,

Thank you for posting this most interesting video - I enjoyed it very much and the vision was exceptionally clear.

As you say, this must have been taken from a drone; I noticed the visual intrusion at left bottom corner at 1-06 and 12-17 ; probably this is a part of one of the drone's motors? Similarly one of the the drone's propellers are visible bottom left at 10-28 and top right at 15-41, also a glimpse at 17-35.
In addition, you can see the shadow image of the drone at 18-39.

The view is great - as you said, just like looking at one's own layout whilst running a consist!

With all the drongos hanging out of the carriage windows I guessed this was a steam enthusiast's run.

I did like the dogs looking at the train at 2-13.

Also, I was fascinated by the bridge at 13-22 and 20-22 : I wonder if the bridge was originally built with, or had the provision in mind for, a dual line?

I was somewhat concerned at 14-34 that the line signal was open for traffic from the opposite direction !!

Regards,

PJ

I'm impressed by the clarity of the video and the smoothness of the camera movements, even when panning quickly. Nice piece of filming!

Fellow modellers take note of the average speed of the train!

I think it is a preservation line rather than an enthusiasts run. It is clearly made up of several trips of the train through the same scenery, but with varying train composition.

I would be interested to find out just where it was filmed, as it would be a nice trip at the height of summer.

Found it, in the notes it says ...
Wutachtalbahn - Luftaufnahmen , Sommer 2015
Southern Germany-Black Forest
Sauschwänzlebahn von Weizen nach Blumberg

Very beautiful video. Thanks Anders.
A long time ago I visited that track, the Wutach Valley Railway (Sauschwänzlebahn). It has (or had) regular traffic with steam locomotives in the summer.
