I found a Marklin steam locomotive at a garage sale, 3085 "BR003". It has been sitting around literally gathering dust. It runs on track, though, the reversing mechanism is a problem. The question I have is how can I safely clean the dust off of the body? You know that nook and cranny stuff you can't just blow off with huffing and puffing:) I thought of removing body and cleaning in whatever you guys suggest. While I am cleaning the body I will be looking at the reversing unit. i would post pic but I have not figured out how to do that here , yet.

Hi Thomas,

Take the body off the chassis and wash it in warm soapy water. Use a small brush to get into the crevices. You can do the same with the tender body. Dry everything thoroughly with a hair dryer.

The reversing mechanism is in the tender. It probably needs a new spring.

Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.
