Can any of our members tell me if the "mitnehmer" H shaped drive coupling in my M3072 is unique to this model or are there other Maerklin Loks that feature this component - thanks in advance

Hi Graham,

The "Mitnehmer" (drive-coupling) was only used in the V100 family. Märklin made more than a dozen different colours. The classic class 44 steamer (G800...3047) has a part which looks similar but it is not the same part.

Regards

Markus

Thanks for the interesting info Markus - I have just taken delivery of a new build/release on the Triebgestell for this Lok. It runs really well with a new ESU M4 Dekoder and NEM pocket couplers - plus tractive effort up a 1 in 6 grade is impressive with 12 freight cars in tow.
