Hi All,

My first attempt at adding a photo. Here's (hopefully) my Z layout from grainy phone pic.IMG_7829.JPG

Cheers,

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Where did you get the concept for the layout? It's vaguely like M* HO layouts.

Hi Gary,

It started as the basic marklin oval with extension sets to test out digital and catenary functions, and then grew like topsy.

I got some ideas from the ancient 0290 mini club track plan book. It was also very useful for the wiring of the 8945 relays to do automatic blocking.

Every now and then I would stand back and look where I could add a turnout to link tracks or add a siding. Not much space left now unless I go up.

Cheers,

Wal

Looks like you can have a lot of operating fun there! Are you going to put any more grass down or are you going for a winter effect?

Hi Wal,

Layout looks great. So much space with Z!

Very nice. I allowed myself to attach the photo for easier viewing.

Hi again,

No plans to add more grass at this stage. I'm not good at the scenic modelling side of things. So my focus recently has been to put led lighting into most of the houses. Next I plan to put lights into some of my passenger wagons. I recently took delivery of the new Lufthansa Airport express which has led lit carriages and I think it looks great.

Then there will be long break this winter while my wife and I head off in our 4WD into the outback.

When we return I plan to get a CS3 and increase the level of automation and computer control on the layout.

Cheers,

Wal

Fun to see Wal,
I think a lot of us HO guys with limited space think about what it would be like to go Z.
Was wondering how much auto-coupling there is in Z for shunting.
Do you do much of that?

Just a simple idea about "grass"... on our temporary layouts we use a dark grass green sheet over the table and under the layout.
I have also used paper. And another option is just using matt paint of an earth tone that appeals to you.
It would give more sense of unity to the overall visual of the layout ...imho.
Of course that does mean lifting everything up to paint or for some other option.

Thanks again for sharing... hope to see more close up shots some day. (hint, hint)

In single point perspective, where do track lines meet?
