Am interested in acquiring this older Marklin 42757 set and looking for feedback from members here that have the set what their opinion is.

Thanks!

Hi.
I have it - and can say some words.

Light.
There are no lighting in the baggage car. In sleeping cars the light could be better but with so many compartments its difficult. Dining car is ok included the lamps on the table. No LED only bulbs. Ok on digital current.

Current.
Baggage car have pickup shoe. Not possible to connect a shoe on the others because of the "simple" connection between bogie and car frame, just a pin. IMO there should be a standard tube in the center of bogie. After some times use, the light got weak, reason bad connection to current coupling in the baggage car. I soldered a thin wire inside to the coupling, no more problems. Use RTS couplings, not the supplied couplings.

The new orient express set have the same moulds/construction and since I only have the add on-set I use these sets in a combination. Overall a nice set, lot of details, put a drop of glue on handrails and buffers before you lose them. You open the cars by open the roof.(you need to have people in the dining car) Maybe a better teakwood finish but ..ok.

This is a nice set on every layout .

Torstein.

Thanks Torstein for the information. ThumpUp

I'll have to look into getting the RTS couplers for the cars.
