I bought a mega starter set a couple of months ago. Everything was working fine then, after a month without operating my setup, I came back to find that one of the engines is now running very very slowly. The engines were stored in their boxes so could not have suffered any damage.
I may have set something incorrectly in the central station but both locos seem to have the same settings.
Any thoughts about what might be going wrong?

Thanks, in anticipation.

Ross

Hi!

Welcome to the forum.

H0 gauge, I assume? You'd better have put your question in the H0 section.

If we knew the ref. number of the set then we'd know what motors and decoders the locos have.
Any unusual motor noises from the slow loco?
Any active functions on the controller? Which controller?

Some locos have a shunting mode that reduces the maximum speed by half.
Regards
Tom

Hi Ross,
If it is an mfx+ locomotive, then you must change the Operation Mode to Standard. The locomotives come out of the box in one of the modes in which you must replenish the coal, water, sand, etc. or else the locomotive will start to crawl simulating you are about to run out of one of the necessary supplies. You can find the information on page 8 of the "World of Operation.... " pamphlet. This happened to me with my first mfx+ locomotive, and a kind person on this forum helped me with this advice.

Merry Christmas,
Craig
