Hello Marklinists....

I have been looking around the net lately for photos and discussion about the DT 800
as I have one that needs repair and seeking solutions.

Meanwhile I found this combination online.
The seller's first photo doesn't flatter as it is not viewed in the set.
Scroll down to see the other photos.
Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Hi Mark,

Have you tried Ritter restauration for Parts for your Dt 800. The one on a Ebay is a Jumble of different Models.

Hi Martin,

I was looking at the auction mostly to get a better look at the underside.
But it doesn't seem the same as mine.
This guy has a drive shaft going to both sides.
On mine the engine/motor itself actually runs works well on mine, but is missing the driveshaft but it only goes to the center bogie.

What I found remarkable was the paint job, guessing restored, and curious to see how he strung the units together.
Also interested to get an idea of what value this would go for.

I just checked Ritter and I don't see any driveshafts available except the one that goes inside the bogie itself.
Thanks for the link.

Hi Mark,

The DT800 only had one shaft and only one driven bogie. It also had a smaller motor with a different gear than the ST/DL/3025 which does have the possibility to mount a second shaft. The train in the auction has the larger motor.

Regards

Markus

Thank you Marcus,

After closer inspection I can see there is no mounting area on my DT 800 for the second drive shaft.
Where one would expect there to be one, there is a rivet.
I took photos which I will try and post later.
I emailed Ritter about any drive shafts he may come across.

Am wondering if it I should keep the wheels as is: The center bogie has four traction tires and then at the back, the previous owner must have had other units, since on the non-powered unit, there is a traction tire with a gear on it in the front end, where it would never connect. Guessing he had a spare and used that to replace an axle without a gear. That means there is only three axles sets (6 wheels) that have electrical contact with the rails.

I thought of replacing that one, but then there would be one shiny wheel and the others with a grey patina.

Either way the key thing to acquire is the drive shaft, and the supports for the pantograph.
Ritter has two of the supports listed, but am wondering if there were varieties of colour as he describes them as "beige" and I would call this more of a cream colour.

I also have not been able to take the body off of the frame of the non-powered unit, or able to disconnecting it from the center bogie.
And of course, I did push the button on top, which I imagine should allow it to disengage from the bogie, as it does from the powered section.
