Hi guys
Sorry for the silly question, but what is Marklin Start Up and how do the Start Up locomotives compare to other Marklin locomotives?
Many thanks Ryan

Hi, Ryan,
"Start Up" is the new name for the Hobby range from Märklin. Less expensive, less detailed. |
Regards Tom --- "In all of the gauges, we particularly emphasize a high level of quality, the best possible fidelity to the prototype, and absolute precision. You will see that in all of our products." (from Märklin New Items Brochure 2015, page 1) ROFLBTCUTS |

Many thanks Ryan In addition to what Tom (HO) wrote, what has become the 'Start Up' range has a long history of being models with moulded in detail like handrails and pipes on steam locos, and the old type RELEX couplings. The range was also named Primex, and when thta range stopped production they were called HOBBY. The HOBBY name has now been dropped in favour of the 'Start Up' name - presumably this is seen as being a more suitable name for the entry level model items. They can be easily picked out on the shelves as they come in the white Marklin boxes with red and blue round spots on them.
