I have a brand new CS2 updated to the latest software updates.

The Issue is my CS2 does not recognise the 2nd S88 connected. I have check all my cables and s88 modules and they are all working.

In my layout in cs2 all the 2nd s88 are yellow while the 1st are all white on the layout icons.

Appreciate anyone's assistance.

Hello,
If your first S88 works fine then try to find the order of those devices and then test again.
This is how you find if the second device is broken.
Remember that only the first device should have mass connection.
Of course check the cable between first and second.

Cross-check everything also carefully connector of the flat cable.

G'day

I have cross checked everything, modules, cables and they all work. What do you mean 'find the order'? And what do you mean 'mass connection,?

My first s88 is connected to the CS2, and the second s88 is connected to the first s88.

Cheers

Hello, as far as I know there is no way to configure several S88. CS2 itself configures device automatically but . . .

Read this help information:

Fehlersuche

Tranlation of Google is here:

Troubleshooting

If you are using S88, we strongly recommend that the layout of a page with CS2 S88 contacts create. Without being able to contact directly in the CS2 look is successful troubleshooting very difficult if not impossible. Already been to commission the feedback modules a page should be created, to which all feedback contacts used are arranged in rows. For example, 3 rows of 16 contacts when they 3 S88 verwenden.Dies is also recommended if only the PC performs automatic controls. For troubleshooting this site can be used to verify the functionality of the S88

If you want to use automatic controls with the memory that respond to feedback contacts, you should definitely invest in a page layout on the corresponding routes are created with the feedback contacts. You should then run through the driving sequence of hand and closely monitor the layout the feedback contacts. In particular, contact rails must be thoroughly checked. Only then you should start the routes in memory to program or turn.
• If the contacts are free if no train is there?
• If the contacts assigned when a train has arrived?
• If the complete assignment when crossing stable?
• If the contact is the correct position ind length?

All this may be checked one side in the layout.

Translation is not very good but it still might be worthy.
Huh

The symbol: "T upside down" of the s88 should be connected to the lateral rails (=brown cable: ground).

Justin,

You do not indicate
- model number and software version of your CS2
- make and model number of your S88s and associated cables.

Please
- provide a photo(s) showing the S88s, including the cable connection between them
- specifically answer the question... "If you connect your 2nd S88 as the 1st S88 by itself , do the sensors 1-16 still work"

Hi Peter

Well done on the World Cup victory.

Central station 60215
Hardware version 5.1
Software version 3.8.1(11)
Version 2.43 (information tab)

S88
Viessmann 5217 and so are the cables.

I cannot get in position well enough for a photoCrying

If I connect the 2nd s88 as the first it works. I have do this to check all the s88 I have.

Hi Justin:

Based on what you are describing we assume you are connecting the S88 directly to the CS2 via the ribbon cable connection on the bottom of the controller. As you mention the exchange of the two Viessmann S88 units have provided the same positive result, both S88's are ok. This yields only 3 remaining options as a source of the problem. 1) the second Viessmann unit needs its own ground connection (brown ground to upside down "T" (this is a guess as I only have Marklin S88's) 2) the ribbon cable between the two S88's is twisted and therefore not connected correctly or 3) the S88 cable between the two S88's is defective.
Based on what you describe, I believe option 3 is the most likely. Do you have another S88 ribbon cable to connect between the two S88's to try to see if it works? if not, try exchanging the cable between the CS2 and the first S88. If the first S88 no longer works, then we know the cable is the culprit.

As an aside, I hope you have made a series of test S88 nodules on the CS2 Layout page with the numbers 17 thru 32 to test the second S88.

Make sure that the cable from the 2nd unit is connected to the correct location and orientation. If by accident you connect it to the incoming side instead of the outgoing side, all of the sensor indications on the 2nd unit will show yellow.

I had exactly the same situation today when I added a third party S88 module in between LDT and Marklin S88 modules. The CAT5 patch cable caused all subsequent S88 modules to show yellow. Once I switched to an LDT cable with the normal pin connectors all worked fine.

Good luck.

Peter

Dear All

Thank you for your help.

I set up a separate test and borrowed a friends S88.

For some reason one of my S88 works in the 1st position but not 2nd.

Once I used the other s88 the second s88 worked.

I need to purchase a new s88

Thanks

Justin
