This is the new world record for longest model train. Total length of train is 1,134' From beginning to end takes about 29 minutes to pass by. The layout is about 28'W and 65'L.. Loops around 8 times then does a flyover to go back in the center then loops around again. Total length of the track is around 1,300' used over 434 pieces of 3' flex track. Power is a 12 volt DC car battery Sorry it is a 2-Rail American modelling! |
Large Marklinist 3- Rails Layout with CS2/MS2/Boosters/C-track/favorites Electric class E03/BR103, E18/E118, E94, Crocodiles/Steam BR01, BR03, BR05, BR23, BR44, BR50, Big Boy. |

I wonder what couplers they used? The ones that Marklin uses now would surely pull out of the pockets. The longest I managed was about 60 cars with the old style couplers and a 4 percent grade using my old 3047 (44 060).

In both trials she was alone..... I wish I had seen a message of yours in my thread below,too.... https://www.marklin-user...o--The-Game-is-Over.aspx...and I share all the happiness you have felt with the 23 locod long train with you, too Cheers, m.utkan |

OK, let's have a look at a few facts (hoping my numbers are right) ... 1134ft = 345.64m / 23 locos = 15.03m per loco ... pretty good ratio ... But, Mehmet did this : 1 BR44 loco with : 201 four axled passenger coaches @ 24cm (minimum) / coach = 48.24m train length, 310 two axled freight cars @ 11cm (minimum) / car = 34.10m train length, ... taking the minimum Märklin lengths into account, it seems Mehmet wins hands down ! Or put another way, 23 of Mehmet's locos would have pulled a 1109.52m train length = 3640ft ... more than three times the length of that video ... ! Woot ! Any rules on these world records ??? Y PS: Post on YT for that video, just to get the juices flowing: Hi, Very nice effort, but have a look here friend : https://www.marklin-user...HO-scale.aspx#post470649 World records are relative ... With 1000 locos and one caboose, I could win the record too ;) Best, |

I totally agree Mehmet is the winner in total train lenghts per loco. We can all be very proud of that old analog DB BR 44 . In my opinion all these kinds of tests should be done like Mehmet & Co did it = on straight track. There is however one thing different. It is harder for the locos and wagons to stay on the track and they have more resistance and sideway pulling forces when they are running in curves. I think this is also one reason why they used 23 locos to avoid wagons derailment as locos are heavier and kind of keep the wagons better on tracks when they are put between certain amount of wagons. Just my thoughts about this... Cheers, Janne |
Märklin H0 digital layout. I have analog and digital H0 Collection. Rolling stock mostly from era I, II, III and IV. Märklin 1 gauge beginner. |

Cheers, Janne Hi Janne, In our earlier trials we tried a big circle(elips)shapes....and as you said we noticed sideway pulling forces.... the following video shows a trial of ours....another problem is that M-Track curves are very sharp for these kind of activities.... Thanks for your interest, too... Cheers, mehmet |
