This year's Nohabs are sold at a reasonable price! ) - cheaper locomotives made of plastic for the Start-Up range (because it doesn't have a chance otherwise) - replicas of Marklin classics (They sell and the fans like them.) Marklin might not do what we suggest anyway, but we should still tell them. Most Marklin fans don't complain, but they might 'vote with their feet' and buy Piko or stop buying altogether. That's why Marklin should listen to the suggestions of fans who still want to buy its new products and are looking forward to next year's news. Regards, Marc |

Mini-Club uses five-pole motors since 1999. They have no excuse, they only have pseudo-justifications for their cost-optimized motors. Hi! I didn't know they'd had them for such a long time in gauge Z. Last year there was that big controversy about three-pole motors in H0 locomotives, and then I saw that the news catalogue explicitly stated which Mini-Club models had a five-pole motor. Before I hadn't paid any attention to gauge Z as I'd never bought any of that, but at that time I noticed the contrast between their information policies for H0 and Z. You're right, the only reason is that they want to save money. That works in the short term, but it will not work in the long run. In one influential German forum (Stummis), there was a destructive thread about those three-pole motors that now has 64 pages (I've just checked) and convinced Marklin to use a five-pole motor in this year's E93 Insider model. That was quite an aggressive discussion, but it worked. There'll be more five-pole motors, and they advertise the fact now, as with the new Nohabs. That's some real progress. I hope I'll see more of that in 2015 ... Regards, Mark |

I just wish for the BR94 in DRG livery... My main wish for the last 10 or so years, the BR05 003 in original cab forward shape, has been fulfilled this year... Sometimes it helps to be patient... Of course better accurate descriptions/instructions are also wished for... |

Well, I was looking to change an existing locomotive in the NS 1700 series to the number and coat of arms of my birth town, but now I don't have to. I'll just have to wait till next summer when the Marklin 26596 comes out. Prototype: Dutch State Railways (NS) bi-level commuter train, consisting of a class 1700 electric locomotive, road number 1714, with the city coat-of-arms "Veenendaal", 1 type DDM2/3-ABv bi-level intermediate car, 1st/2nd class, 2 type DDM2/3-Bv bi-level intermediate cars, 2nd class, and 1 type DDM2/3-Bvk bi-level cab control car, 2nd class. Yellow basic paint scheme. The cars also have advertising lettering "delta lloyd". Edited by user 14 October 2014 14:18:52(UTC)

I agree with most of you. I miss the SDS quite alot and recently bought the 39413 with SDS. My 2015 wishlist is: *Catenary -Ending sections -Poles from different conuntries. *C-track -DKW for Hosenträger -Symetrical turnouts -Slim DKW! *Locos -X2 with tilting mechanism -RC-locos in correct scale length 1:87 -ICE 2 with 2 motors for multiple consists -Newer american trains like Acela Express *Cars -Reproduce the longer red DoStos. Not HOBBY/My world -Black swedish passenger coaches *Miscellanous -Better quality check on "finished" models. My Montreal Limited missed one end on a carriage, Wabash had some problems with the signs, there were scratches on the end car of the Santa Fe-train. -No cheap motors!!! -More detailed information about the motors -Detailed release plans like on video games. My 1300 Euro order is still waiting for the 43829 Silberlinge set which was supposed to be released last month. |

Hi David,
I just have a quick question to you. Did you send those expensive US train sets back to Marklin to have the damage repaired? Last year I got three locomotives with scratches and decided to send them to Marklin's repair service in Goppingen. They repainted the scratched handrails under the warranty, so now they're perfect.

More Danish locos and trains, but I'm sure most people want more stuff local to themselves.
The NOHAB MYs have been an easy ride for Marklin for a long time, build one model and you've got 5-6 countries covered? A couple of different paint jobs for each country and you've got 10 models easily.
The Danish trains I really want are MZ, MY, MA and MR, and I've corrently bought the MZ and MZ from Roco, so I'm running a Marklin layout with no Marklin trains!
Another thing that really annoys me is the 64 / 77mm track distance switch between <R3 - >R4. It constantly gets in the way of my layout building! Same with only having R1/R2 bridge curves...
And please bring in some sensible mid-priced manual signals... The start-up range is far, far to basic and limited and the 76xxx range is too expensive and not really built for manual mode.
Also, some older Danish stuff would be nice, but I know I'm pushing it. The 1935 Lyntog and MO trains would be awesome!
Thanks |

Once it gets to that stage I suspect coaches will get issued for it.

Best regards, Mark Hi Mark! It´s good you got them back with the repaints. Out of the three trains with faults 2 of them were fixed. The Wabash trains seems forgotten, but I sent back the car from Montreal Limited that was missing an end piece and got one back with the missing end piece (it took what seemed like forever). I also sent back the end car of the Santa Fe and got a new one without any scratches. Best regards/ David |

No, the S2/6 never was DR/DB black & red... She has been registered (registered ONLY) at the DR but never was in service...As far as I remember : only 3 different liveries for this machine... The announced Marklin model is the last livery (latest) PS: the S2/6 model from Brawa in dark livery with DR registration was purely...imaginary .

I see all the experts are agreeing with each other then ... marklin are not unfamiliar with imaginary colour schemes, vis the Br10, although I believe all the schemes they have done were proposed colour schemes for it.

Brawa make this loco in green with red wheels, Marklin in green with green wheels. I've seen other Bavarian locos of the period in both schemes.
How do the experts know which is correct? Have any colour photos survived of these magnificent locomotives? If there are any out there I would love to see one! |

I believe this is DB's Ocean/Cream livery from the 1970s/1980s. The DB retired the VT11.5 in 1988, so it is likely that some (or all) in server received the "new" scheme. -Brandon |

I agree with many of you about quality first !
Here's a suggestion for new C Track I already made a while back. I don't like having to cut parts of my tracks and I don't really like those red thingies to interrupt power either. So, I suggest having tracks with small switches underneath the track to switch on or off the central or left or right side rail. With a triple DIP-switch on each side, you have full lexibility to turn on or off any part of the track and you don't have to cut parts of your track or struggle with the red isolation thingies. With triple DIP-switches one each side of the track, you have full control and flexibility.
Another thing, is to offer switches fully pre-equipped with motor, decoder and light, a little like what they used to do with the older M-Track switches (manual or electric switches were available). It would be nice to also have a bigger cover plate underneath the siwtch to better protect the motor arm to avoid any interaction with whatever the track rests on.

Wow - track is expensive enough as it is... That would make it 3 times more expensive! I agree. Installing two triple DIP switches in each length of track would be insanely expensive. I have no trouble with the red insulators. They might be a bit fiddly, but you dont have to insert them very often unless you rip up your track every five minutes. In any case you only ever need to insulate a small percentage of the tracks on any layout. The other suggestion of selling turnouts complete with motor, decoder and turnout lanterns is also adding expense for all those who have no desire to use these additional devices. or example, I run my turnouts in analogue control, and without the lanterns. I've saved myself a fortune over the complete package. |

On the other hand one could use the IR controller that comes with the bottom end start sets and My World sets ... perhaps a more useful device would be an adaptor that allows one to use one of these with an ms2 based system.

I thinks Tototrains' question is quite valid. Not everyone wants to use a mobile phone as a controller, and anyway it needs to also use a CS2 as Alan mentions. On the other hand the existing IR controller is very basic and lacks functionality. I think there is a genuine market for a model of MS2 with IR connection to the Track box. I'm sure it can't be that difficult to implement. |

What about brand new tooling of a Capitol BB 9200 SNCF TEE and train . I do really like the old tooling and I might just get one some day. But I would prefer a more detailed model with sound and a metal body. But back in the reel world, and probably a more affordable one. Another budget loco for the French Market. Namely an Akiem E 186. Traxx loco and the Akiem Traxxx diesel, plus the SNCB series 2900 traxx, used for cross border freight services to France!. These locks are already in the Marklin range under there budget items and perhaps not accurate they look the part and run very well. Plus they do seem to have that Marklin thing that keeps me happy danmarklinman attached the following image(s): |

Conrail GG-1 and matching Conrail N5c caboose. They've already got the tooling for both, just need paint masks.

I am with you but i do not expecting much.Even the box cars we saw for the new items are not something special, they have similar paint.I am afraid that the new Big Boy will be the only USA locomotive for this year.

Hi, Let's wait and see. There will be a caboose set with three cars: UP, NYC, and PRR. For the Big Boy, they only need the UP caboose, so that set suggests that there might be two more US locomotives in 2015. Another thing I have noticed in recent years is that they rarely issue a single version of a given model in one year, except if it is a German locomotive they can sell a higher number of copies of, such as the Insider models or the S 2/6. There might be a follow-up version of the Big Boy, either as a weathered model with the same road number (if the 37996 doesn't sell) or simply one more version with a different road number in 2016. The 37991 was followed by the 37992, and there were two different Big Boys in 2012 and 2013. For non-German models, a single version would be less profitable. For the new Nohab, they started with five versions to make money on it right away. Sometimes I wonder how much money Märklin must have made on the old Nohabs between 1964 and 2013, but they don't know that because they had never figured out which models were profitable until Mr Pluta came along with some accountants and did that job. Best regards, Mark |
Best regards, Mark
I like Märklin items produced in the 1960s or early '70s, but also digital locos & current rolling stock. |

Best regards, Mark I am still expecting a Big Boy with cabinnumber 4014,once the real thing has been brought back to running condition at the UP Cheyenne facilities. The caboose for PRR also fits well to the earlier issued GG-1 electric loco, which pulled passenger trains as well as freight. The year is not over yet! |

I would like the 36332 have Telex, but it is planned not to have. Shunting locos are much more fun with Telex. I like the Ee 3/3 a lot, but the fact that they don't have Telex is keeping me in doubt if I will buy or not. I fear if I buy them, I will want to buy again when it will be released with Telex. I am also thinking in the Insider. I will not buy much more but some of my prefered ones are: 1- BR50 with Cabin tender 2- S2/6 in grey (red wheels) record livery 3- new tooling RAm 4- Green croc (new model) weathered with cabin lights and telex 5- new tooling for Ae6/6 6- BR96 with new tooling so we have interior cabin details and light. Also with Telex. And on a totally different perspective why not the SP 2-6-0 & 0-6-0 as can be seen in http://www.riverraisinmodels.com/index.html (I refer to the road numbers 1270 and 1768). Off course I want them in HO, but the ones in the site are S gauge which I think it is a great scale for play if one have space. Not too big but not too small too. |
Best regards, Miguel

Hi, Well everybody else has had a go at some wildly hopeful entrants for Marklins new year development tasks, so here is my entry. ] This is a Swedish (SJ) class 1200 built around 1915 by... wait for it ..... yes NOHAB.. There were 11 of them. They sold them to the Danish State Railways in 1937, where they were exceedingly successful with large 1.9m driving wheels. (Picture their ground, the flat terrain of Denmark). At DSB they were known as Litra E, and they built an extra 25 of them in 1942-1950. So Marklin could do it in Swedish grey, Swedish black, and DSB black. regards Kimball |
HO Scale - Märklin (ep II-III and VI, C Track, digital) - 2 rail HO (Queensland Australia, UK, USA) - 3 rail OO (English Hornby Dublo) - old clockwork O gauge - Live Steam 90mm (3.1/2 inch) gauge. |
