Hello fellow train enthusiasts,
I have a question as i am just starting out, where does everyone get there buildings and scenery from for there layouts? at the moment i have a 2400x1200 MDF board with a circle and it is quite plane, over time i want to expand on a larger layout but i want to get the basics of digital, points, signals etc but adding a few bits and pieces to the board will help make it look abit more realistic.
thanks!
Regards,
QWERTY

Hi, Most of the time, specialized model railroad stores also sell all necessary material for building scenery (buildings, grass, rock and all the stuff...). (and of course, specialized web site also; Here in Europe you can order many materials from lokshop : http://shop.lokshop.de/i...n&language_changed=y and modellbahnshop-lippe: http://www.modellbahnshop-lippe.com/index.asp?l=gb for instance) The most common brands providing buildings and scenery material are: Faller, Noch, Kibri, Busch, Heki, Woodland Scenics and much more... Three links for starting: Faller: http://www.faller.de/App...page/pid.14.16/Home.htmlNoch: http://www.noch.com/en/Woodland Scenics: http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/HTH Cheers Fabrice

Not sure what you may have in the way of hobby shops in Perth but over on the east coast in Sydney there is Hobbyco in the CBD, Bills Hobbies at West Ryde [ used to be called Tom's Hobbies, Train Trader at Pymble & Casula Hobbies at Liverpool plus numerous other shops which I can't remember at the moment. maybe buy a copy of Australian R ailway Modeller at a newsagent where there is a list of shops which cater for all railway modellers. Overseas there is so many to choose from ,check the web for addresses & the links above.
Keep a tight hold on your wallet or maybe the credit card may vaporise from over use . Also Ebay has sales for the common names of manufactures of RR related material.
Cheers Tom in Oz on the east coast.

here is the USA, selection of European models is limited and rather pricey so I order direct from Germany. I have used www.lokshop.de extensively over the years. I accumulate a decent size order to keep shipping costs down. |
