Hi All

I am planning a trip to Europe from Australia next year in February 2014. I am very interested in the Marklin training courses, especially the HO Service and Inspection (2 day) or the HO locomotive build course (2 day).

Since the 4th April 2013 I have emailed Marklin training and do not seem to get any replies. In fact I have emailed them 4 times and the only response was an out of office return message from a Dieter Lorenz. I have phoned twice the Marklin training number and only get someone who speaks German which I do not unfortunately. They always transfer me to someone else who does not answer, it just rings out. I even contacted Marklin Service and explained my problem as they do speak English. There is a bloke in Marklin Service called Alex who is very helpful. I then sent Marklin Service an email for them to forward on to Marklin training.

I particularly want to attend one of these courses next year and was wondering if anyone has been on these courses and how easy is it to do so. I know the courses are in German only which does not bother me. I can just observe if nothing else. It would be good just to visit the factory for two days.

I will now write a normal letter to Marklin training and see if that brings a result. I know it is 8 months away and maybe there is no future roster yet and maybe the reason. However you would think they would at least acknowledge.

Has anyone else been on a Markin training 2 day course, it would be quite a highlight of a trip to do so.

Cheers
Bryan

It would not hurt to get a basic grip of the German language.. There is some great software out there - Rosetta Stone make some good stuff - and many community groups offer German language coaching for a gold coin donation.. FD and I have started our courses - a refresher for her, while I am starting from scratch.. It is like English in that there are a lot of grammar rules and (seems to me) just as many exceptions to those rules.. You could be a healthy distance before Feb 2014.. "Where is the toilet?" might be handy.. RollEyes

Hi!

I have not attended these courses, but I saw a report about them on TV. I'm not sure if the course will work for someone who does not understand German (that's my impression from the TV report, but I was not there).
They are held at the Märklin museum, not at the factory.

Maybe they don't have dates for the 2014 courses yet - but still they should reply to requests.
Regards
Tom

Here's the TV report I saw (I hope they do not lock out foreign IP addresses):
http://www.spiegel.tv/fi...odelleisenbahn-maerklin/

Jump to 30:50 (or -01:03:15) for first part about the Märklin course.
Jump to 52:30 (or -00:41:38) for second part about the Märklin course.
Jump to 1:19:38 (or -00:14:32) for third part about the Märklin course.

It's a few years old (they install Delta decoders during the course).
Regards
Tom
