G'day

I am new to Marklin digital system. Well new to model railway digital around!

What I am trying to understand work out is how to program k83 6083 decoder to Mobile Station 2? My experience so far has only been with the Turnout 74460 decoders which are very easy to set the address.

If the question has already been ask, I am sorry however I could not find anything.

Cheers

Welcome Jvt1

Simply open up your K83 and set the dip switch inside to the desired address, no programming required on the MS. I have not done this in a while but as far as I can recall if you set the dip switch to "5" for example then then 5,6,7 and 8 would be the 4 positions on your MS.

Regards

Leon

The DIP switch or "mouse piano" is the "Coder" (term used by Märklin in the manual) where you set the address (8 tiny switches numbered from 1 to 8).

Thank you. So if I input on the DIP 6(1) 1...4 1--4--7-, what numbers on the Mobile Station 2 would the be?

Thank you

I reckon that'll be 81 through 84 on the MS2. Better use -23-5-7- to get addresses 1 through 4 (avoids a lot flipping through pages in the MS2).

Do you have manual for MS2...?
If you read it you don´t need to ask how to work out numbers on the MS2.

They forgot to mention that in the manual.

Just go for the group marked "1 (1)" in the manual. You can choose between "1-4", "5-8", "9-12", and "13-16".
For group "2 (1)", add 16 ("17-20" &c). For group "3 (1)", add 32 ("33-36" &c). And so forth.

Nope!
They did not to forget to mention...
You have two choise to use keyboard by searching after number(s).
The first is to scroll adresses one step forward or and backward.
The second is to scroll faster by use "shift"+driveknobs.
Numbers can only show up maximium two at the time on the screen display of MS2.

Great news.
So how do you reckon the number for "DIP 6(1) 1...4 1--4--7-" (taken from the 60830 manual) to the turnout number you have to use with the MS2?
You say this information can be found in the MS2 manual ...

Nope!
I didn´t said about code in the k83.
TS did asked about numbers of turnouts id in the MS2.
You can´t see DIP number in the MS2.

That's part of the problem.
And you cannot see turnout address in the k83 manual. That's why the TS asked about it (read his question again).
And I still think they forget an important piece of information in the k83 manual for those who want to use them with an MS2 (and they don't provide that information in the MS2 manual either).

But let's just agree to disagree about that.
