Hi,

My first post.....I have collected Marklin now for about 9 years (second childhood) circa 1935-1950's is my focus. I just bought this 3015 and have it apart because she ran rough and heated up but can't find any issues looks pretty clean (version 10). Any suggestions Thanks Alex

Hi Alex,

Welcome to the forum.

How did you lubricate the loco? The crocodiles run much smoother when the helical gears are threaten with grease instead of oil. I use TRIX-grease which is nowadays also suggested by Märklin for its worm-gears.

Regards

Markus

Hi,

Thanks for all the welcomes.....Great to see fellow Marklin enthusiests. I used oil for the worm gears and will try grease if I can't find the problem, I think the armiture is good. I sold one a couple of years ago and it ran perfect but I always enjoy the challenge to fiddle with these gems. Thanks again everyone!

Alex

Hi Alexander,

Good to see you joined the forum...sorry can't help you with the 3015...do you have photos of it taken apart?

Heating up usually means either the motor is doing too much work because wheels or gears are rubbing or there is a small electrical short that causes heat.

Best,

Paul

Hi Paul,

I took her all apart cleaned and just finished with the re-assembly and she runs great.....There was a short from one of the light wires. Great forum I plan to check in often, great to get all the comments. Thanks Alexander
