Hi Guys,

Grateful for info/input on how Liliput AC models perform on C Track and/or M Track. I would like an SBB steamer
and find the Marklin offering (that I could find) boring in the extreme. I am aware there is Austrian and "post Austrian"
stock...................................but probably not much Austrian stock to be found??

Liliput first photo then Marklin.

Hey Jeremy,

I have the Liliput A 3/5 Swiss Steamer. (the new re-tooled version) She runs like a gem on C track, I haven't had any problems at all with it. As for M track, I haven't tried but I would expect a much tougher time of it. It isn't nearly as robust as a Marklin or Hag Loco, and I suspect it might suffer just like any other Roco, Liliput etc.. would.

If you want a Swiss steamer, there aren't a lot of choices. I'd say would best bet is the Roco C 5/6, but the Liliput A 3/5 is a nice plan B. I'd be wary of either on M track though...

Hi John,

Thanks for info., so they work fine but might not be as robust. Sure looks alot nicer though, in my eyes anyway.

Hi Jeremy,

I have a Liliput steamer, it is the 2-8-2 tank engine, It is item 131410.

It is factory fitted with a Lockpilot decoder, and it runs very smoothly on C track. The body is made of metal.
However, it does cause a momentary short on the long points (24711/2), and I suspect that it is somethoing to do with the shape of the pick-up shoe, which seems longer than the Marklin ones. So I don't run it there.

Under my CS1 controller, it is very responsive, with good slow speeds, and does not hesitate when track is dirty. It also pulls a heavy load on the flat.

Overall, for a reasonable price, you can add some variety to your line-up if that is what you want.

regards
Kimball

Mostly Marklin.Selection of different eras and European railways
Small C track layout, control by MS2, 100+ trains but run 4-5 at a time.

Hi Jeremy,
I second what John said about the Liliput loco: good looking, runs nicely on C-track (not tested on K, but should not cause a problem either), pulls a half dozen coaches but requires careful handling as some of the little plastic detail pieces are "flimsy" at best.

Mine has a LoPi V4.0. No sweat.

Cheers

Jeremy

I have a Roco C 5/6 "Elephant" and I don't have any problems with it either on K or C - track. it hasn't got a steam generator which I'm a bit dissapointed with but I'm sure one day I will fit one if its possible.
With any Roco Steamloco however the pulling power is restricted especially going up hills (motor in tender and Liliput the same) and one day I might get another C5/6 to strenghten or increase the load behind it.

Austrian steamlocos seem to be available from different manufacturers with different class numbers but Roco had its share of them, so did Liliput, Rivarossi and Kleinbahn , I don't know about Lima.

Our Swiss members may can add some light to this topic and tell us if there are other Swiss manufacturers who deal with Swiss steam locos.
