Hi everybody,

I've found on ebay a nice Br18 without box.

I was almost convinced it was a #3093,
but I've heard about the #3091 number (this number that was re-used after for a blue P8)

So, please help me to identify my model.

Don't hesitate to post pics of these two Br18 to show the differences.

Here's mine:

Seen on the web:

#3091 equipped with a smoke unit
#3093 not equipped with a smoke unit

Is it true ?

Strange to have only this difference....

Ian and Stephen,

Thank you so much.

Let's have a look at the inside of my lady:

looks like the bended metal part upon the bulb in front of the reversing unit
is there to feed a smoke generator...

Do you agree ?

There is a hole in the chimney but I don't have any smokey thing else:

Joël,

While I own several BR18s, I don"t have either of these great looking locos but from Koll's 2011 (und mit meine sehr, sehr schlecte Deutsch ...^^) I see the following;

3091.1 : has a smoke generator and a road number shield on the boiler which is 5mm long ...
3091.10 : as you pointed out ... is the blue version with different road number ...

3093.1 : same as 3091.1 without smoke generator
3093.2 : road number shield on the boiler which is 8mm long ...
3093.3 : (not sure about this one) smooth cylinder with printed factory shield .. I think this is lower left in the pix ^^ ?

I'd say ... first thing to check is the length of the road number shield on the boiler, if it's 5mm, and knowing you have a smoke generator, then your loco is probably a 3091 !

I agree it's not much difference, but at least you will know ^^ Wink

See below for Koll's 2011 comparisons ...

Hope it helps,

Yum Tongue

Hi Yum, yes here are some photos of my 3091.1. The box is dated 03 72. I probably bought it later
that same year, new. Peter

Hi Yum,

Thank you so much !

I've measured the "road number shield on the boiler" and you can see it on the pic after:
the two vertical lines on the paper are spaced of 5mm,
...so the shield is a 8mm one
...so my Br18 is a 3093.2

You solved my question !

By the way I've downloaded the Schematics of the 3093 and saw the bended metal part
above the front bulb. #29 "Federplatte". Looks like a smoke generator could be installed
even if it was the no-smoke version Unsure .

Still a bit strange ...

Best regards
Joël

Hi Peter,

Thank you so much for your pictures.
I'm now sure of the number of my model.

Best Regards
Joël
