It has already been mentioned Zimo decoders in the new SBB ICN.
Zime announced in its newsletter, all new Roco, Fleischmann, HAG, Brimalm & Hobby trade locos will have mainly Zimo sound decoders.
Other manufacturers such as Demko, Hermann, Ferro-Suisse, Dingler, SSI, etc. etc.

If you have Zimo decoder in your loco but you are not sure, under CV 8 can you establish who the manufacturer is, Zimo is: 145, The PCB is either black or in green but never blue.

Provided that Zimo´s sounddecoder is better than ESU´s...!?
Interesting that Hobby Trade did decided Zimo, when Hobby Trade are importing ESU to Scandinavia!

They seem to be making in-roads into many European manufacturers.

Any comparison to be drawn between ESU vs Zimo?

Quite a few in Stummi seems to be fitting Zimo decoders to replace the current M*'s standard "in-house" decs.

A bit difficult to be Marklin customers, as we tend to be stuck with whatever Marklin is supplying us as standard, thus don't really know a lot about the "outside" world.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

From my point of view, there is not much to go by, except it could be a price issue or an internal incapability (ESU)to deal with other customers (either over technology or an ego stepladder)or grown to quick and can't keep up with production, this could happen to any establishment.

If one can compare other companies, e.g. Märklin with decoders (lost their superiority and compatibility status) while others opened up the decoder protocol (Märklin changing to highefficiencymotors).

Zimo has been around for a while and has changed, in my view dramatically for the best:
Previous any change to updates, a charge would of applied (no longer applicable)
Few Changes of their components (updatesd versions no longer compatible with older versions)

Their electronic and digital technology may be different to ESU.

One never can be sure what will be next on the market looking at mobile phones and as far as I'm concerned, tomorrow someone else comes up with a new idea again, hence I haven't bought a Central command station.

ESU stated that they will not produce PluX decoders. Well, the new decoder plug standard to replace the 8-pin plug is PluX. Every new tooled Roco model will have the PluX plug. Other manufacturers will follow along.
If ESU continues their current strategy they will be left out in the cold. Customers will go elsewhere. So I guess it will be a question of time before they decide to produce PluX decoders anyway.

Regarding HobbyTrade, they are no longer working with ESU and have not done so for at least a year.

Well, what do you know, ESU has announced a PluX version of the new LokPilot 4. Problem solved! I can continue to use ESU.
