Could give iTrain a try since it works with the CS2. http://berros.eu/itrain/en/index.php

I don't think the second one is possible, as the 6021 is slaved to the CS2, it becomes just a secondary controller.
But who knows, in any case it will be quite slow.

Hi Big D. Sounds good. Looks like the bit of dirt or whatever that got caught in the CS1 may well have caused the problem. I am glad that the CS2 may not be faulty cos if it had been it makes me look a right prune for singing its praises.
Would be interested to know if you can transfer yout turnouts etc from the CS1 to the CS2 as I would have though that may not work due to the different set up on the two controllers.

You certainly can do that Dave. When I reset the CS1, I lost all my loco and turnouts definitions. I did have them saved in LocCommander, so I was able to export them back to the CS1. From there, the CS2 can read the CS1's config, so it (the CS2) can pull all the locos and turnouts into its config!

The other thing about iTrains, is that with the Professional version, you can define 2 controllers in its setup (actually the documentation says multiple controllers).

Therefore you could have the CS1 Reloaded and the CS2 as your controllers, with iTrains acting as a software bridge between the two. That then opens up the world of Ecos Radiocontrol to the CS2, and also the ability to use the Marklin boosters. i.e., the Radiocontrol is connected to the CS1R, the Marklin boosters to the CS2, and iTrains as the bridge between them.

With an Intellibox, that could also open up the Loconet world to Marklin CS users, with Lissy train control, or their Trackboards, etc.

See where I'm going with this.....BigGrin

Hi Dave. That is good news and saves a lot of extra work. The Keyboard with turnouts on the CS2 is not in my view great as each turnout will have the same place and number on the screen and cannot be changed ie turnout with address 8 cannot become address one on the keyboard. (sorry I am not explaining this very well but i know when I set them up it did not seem as good as the CS1)

If you set up a new turnout on the CS2 I wonder if it then does the opposite and send it back to the CS1. (dont try it Dave just in case)

I don't think you can Dave, I don't see an option for that. Seems to be just 1 way, from CS1 to CS2.

David,

I asked Xander a couple of questions in the iTrain thread, waiting for an answer. He did say in the thread that they are working on a program for iThings. So if you went with Lissy you would wire all of your loks with Lissy decoders? When you say Trackboards are you talking about the lego like Train-Control?

Yes. One of our Marklin Club members has bought into this, and gave us a demonstration of it about a year ago. There were also a couple of writeups in our club magazine by the same person. Being an Uhlenbrock product, it does use Loconet, which makes it difficult to use directly with the Marklin system. There is a Loconet to 6021 adapter, but the 6021 does not reflect a state change when something independent of it makes that change.

I have mentioned in several posts that Clapcott is writing some bridging software for between disparate devices, the above comments are the main reason why he is doing that.

I do see where you are going.ThumpUp

Computer control can go a lot further with Lok identification. I have wondered if marklin would develop a new s88 that would detect the MFX signal as the lok crosses the contact track, looks like they could implement this.

That is very interesting information, thanks Big D

David,

well with the positive outcome of your adventure I certainly am leaning strongly towards a CS2. Currently I'm thinking of the CS2 paired with iTrain and possibly the recommended LDT HSI-S88 interface for feedback. (pg 19 & 20 of the iTrain manual)

I do not have any legacy digital controllers, so a fresh start so to speak. The only drawback with iTrain so far is the lack of a handcontroller using an iThing.

Which I guess Thomas is the advantage of also have the CS1, as Touchcab with an iPhone/iPod touch works with v2.0.4 of the CS1.

Definitely. I think if you have a legacy item like the CS1, use it to your advantage. I doubt it will be long before iTrain and TouchCab work with the CS2. RocRail and RR&Co. are already in the market so we have choices.
