I'd go for a Br06, especially if it was a red one.

The options offered auger well for future Marklin models!
I'm not an insider myself, but I would vote for the 06 or the 58. All of them are tempting, but these two in particular stand out for me, one express passenger and one heavy freight. |

The T 18 would be a curve restriction for Märklinists not being able to shift the secondfront bogy axle close to the siderods.

I gave my votes to - The BR 58 - The BR 05 cab forward (something different as usual) - The BR 06
It was a choice, I would like to have a new S3/6 and the Swiss steamer too.
Maybe they will make a double traction steamer set with one slider in the future. |

I was rather surprised to discover this last night! Perhaps Märklin have decided us non-German Insiders are important after all...
I voted for: T18 - because, well, it's weird! S 2/6 - I like the old-timers Comodore Vanderbilt - very "art-deco", or perhaps "modern"...

It is hard to choose between all these models, many are very tempting. Though, if a had (which I will) to choose, I would want the Commodore Vanderbilt or the Br 06... |

I'd love a UP Challenger, but that's surely a no go. Many French locomotives look somewhat related to my US preferred types, so I chose the Serie 241. The BR 58 as a fairly standard steamer, and the S 3/6 for looks complete my triad.

I voted for BR58 BR06 Streamlined V320but I am also very keen on Voith Maxima and Cab forward BR05. I think M* is on the right track if they have all these great models in their future plans, so a lot of excitement is waiting for us guys!!! |

When will this firm ever learn?
They should have a look into Brawa’s catalogue to learn that excellent H0 models of the BR 06, the S2/6, the E95 or the V320 already exist.
The 05 003 has been released by Liliput recently.
Most of the list consists either of exotics, preseries, or experimental locomotives. Such prototypes, however, are an issue for small-series or specialized manufacturers, while large series manufacturers like Märklin should concentrate more on standart models, where one tooling allows many different versions. Just look at the VT92, which will be released by a small firm called Naumburg & Partner soon: only one example of this railcar ever existed! I just wonder who really needs several models of such an exotic prototype from several firms.
Märklin’s 2010 insider model, the DB BR 03.10 actually is reasonable new tooling, as no large series H0 model of this engine exists yet. But regarding that list (or poll) now, it seems they fall back into their old product policy: “the more exotic, the better”.
Moreover, there are still several interesting Trix toolings waiting for a re-edition, like the VT 75 or the BR 38.4.

Hello Florian, whatever Märklin will do, someone will disagree. I understand your position, but on the other hand a lot of Insider are complaining that their exclusive Insider product is not that exclusive and Märklin will do a re edition a few years later with different service So what? Here we have 2 adverse needs coming together. Be sure, even if Brawa has some items already in their cataloque, most of the Märklin customers are not buying Brawa. No wonder with their astronomic pricing (more than 500 Euro for a Br74 ) What I complain about the choice is the fact that there is no really significant electric locomotive in the choice. rgds Stephan

I know there are Brawa models, but I don't have them yet. I'd prefer Märklin anyway. I think both models would work for Märklin. And they do the poll to find out which models are wanted. Those with these Brawa locos can choose other locos. Märklin made a Köf II. Originally the Brawa Köf II was even in the Märklin catalogue. I bet they know the Brawa catalogue, but they also take their chances. |

Once again....I don't play the game, I can't choose, I can't decide.... I am eliminating : 13 & 14 without restriction. I like them but I'm not interested in : ET 30, E 10, br 58, S 3/6, C5 elephant... .... I'm interested in all the rest and I love all of them , for sure they are my favorites :T 18, BR 05 Cab Forward,E 95, Comodore Vanderbilt, série 241 A, and VT 92 (what a nice machine !) If those 6 loks were displayed in a shop and you ask me to buy immediately only one of them , I would buy the T 18. If they ask me to book a second one for next purchase, I'll probably choose the Commodore Van Der Bilt. I'm undecided about: 05 Cab forward, E 95, 241 A and VT 92 . (I close my eyes and give me one of them...) My comment about 241 A: of classically elegant lines ( + Commodore vanderbilt as well ). From a purely marketing point of view : indubitably it will be a great success in France , and there were 1 or 2 rolling in Germany under German livery. There is also a Swiss version actually preserved in Switzerland as a Museum version. Edited by user 09 June 2010 01:40:20(UTC)

....then my final choice will be: T 18 - Commodore Vanderbilt - BR 05 Cab forward . But I'm not happy, they have forced me to cancel E95: I like it so much... MRR is a constant frustration... Edited by user 09 June 2010 16:54:53(UTC)

For me : Serie 241 A 65 France - this at least would be a good signal to France (except that it was a model taken to germany during war... maybe the reason for the home market of Marklin)

VT 92 looks strange, with interesting design and asymmetrical shape : different bogies, 1 powered big bogie + another smaller bogie... I don't fully understand how this machine was used. was it a training railcar or an experimental railcar ? or both : training & experimental ? Was it really a railcar ? or a " pulling Locomotive " ? or both ? Interior settings look interesting ( without passenger seats ) Under which circumstances or what purpose was it pulling coaches ? passenger service ? What kind of coaches ? Was it for testing coaches ? May be some German contributors could enlighten me ? (I didn't find any English or French explanations per advance thank you) I imagine it as a unique insider model , full metal, nice interior settings, SDS motorization, independantly switchable lights (separate + independantly switchable smooth light for conductor cabin also)

BR 05 cab forward is my choice and a french Serie 241.
I have the Trix Fine Art version of the T18 and it is a very smooth running engine - even with a Delta decoder - I'd say it runs better than most recent Marklin engines. The Trix T18 is all brass and quite heavy - which probably helps the running characteristics. |
