I'm trying to cut down a bit on my purchasing. Luckily there aren't that many "must haves" for me this year. But I will buy the Insider loco and waggons and also the E44 and the Dresden-waggons, but that's about it...

Actually when I re-entered the hobby six months ago, I wanted to start up with marklin but since I had a lot of hornby 2-wheel track I opted for trix!!! But trix is marklin in a DC way....All my trix stuff though runs digitally.

Hello,

First, under the premise that one can never have enough beige and red BR 103's, I am certain to purchase 37573. Besides I need a second digital 103, to go with the 12 car IC fleet (00776) on order from last year and the 37571 which I was lucky enough to find in stock at a German store last October.

Next, I must decide between a US/110v version of the starter set with a CS2, BR 50 and E50 (29500) or the starter set with the MS2 and a BR 81 (29539). The benefit of the CS2 set is it gives me two digital models that I need anyway. While the MS2 set leaves more money in the budget for decoders and additional rolling stock. Its only drawback is that I already have that BR 81 model! Likely I will purchase whichever becomes available at my US dealer first Smile

Bye,
Rob

Hi Ranjit,

Maybe it's because many of us already have a 3021. There are always many examples of 3021 on ebay as well, some in "as new" condition.

I'm very happy with mine, and it's very happy on my layout pulling tinplate coaches just like the ones in this year's new items!

Well, to be honest, a nostalgic model like this will have more limited appeal. Mostly people will buy this for emotional rather than logical reasoning.

Then there is still a strong competition from the thousands of cheap and real classic 3021 available in the second hand market.

Now collecting C-Sine models.

I'm giving it some thought, even though I have the 3122 starter set from the 1970's, which came with a V200 loco and 3 tinplate coaches.

Hi Ray,

I presume your 3021 is the newer V220 (BR220) locomotive. Am I right?

I am speaking about the re-introduced Marklin original classic (3021, V200) issued between 1957 and 1989 with the "old red" colour scheme with "Deutsche Bundesbahn" on the side. The 30210 locomotive looks and feels as it did at the end of the fifties. Every time I see this locomotive, memories of my childhood come rushing in.

Cheers,
Ranjit

Yes Ranjit, mine is the last version of the 3021, but it is not too different. It is essentially the same model.

If you look on ebay you can find many examples of the earlier versions with "Deutsche Bundesbahn" on the side as well. That's why I believe not many people are interested in the reproduction. Also many will already have one of these from their own childhood.

I am sure there will be some buyers who want a brand new one, perhaps to replace one they spoilt or broke in their youth, or perhaps because they could not afford one first time round, but it always was quite a common model, so there are lots of original ones around still.

Hi Ray,

Thank you for that info.

I will be buying the 30210 purely for nostalgic reasons, and also to add this very popular Marklin classic to my collection. I have had so many years of fun with this locomotive in my childhood, and I was so saddened to see the locomotive completely destroyed due to bad weather conditions and other factors. I wish I knew then the "real" value of these beauties.

Cheers,

My next purchase is going to be the 43859 TEE Bavaria car set from last year, to go with the BR 210 I just got. After that I am planning to focus on buildings and scenery for a while.

I would like to get a freight steamer with sound this year, probably a BR 50 or BR 41 since I don't have an example of either. That will not be until the fall though, at the earliest.

I'm not interested in the 30210, since I have the early version of the 3021, from 1958, with dual headlights and "Deutsche Bundesbahn" spelled out, from the 3121 set I have.

I'm really pleased to see all these wonderful "serious" Ep.V models, especially the Br140 in plain traffic red. Interestingly Roco are doing a new tooling AC version of this too.

It's also really good to see Märklin have listened and put the correct rectangular buffers on the Ep.V Ludmilla.

Hello,

The wonderful discussion you all have posted regarding the V200 has made me change my mind. After many years of avoiding diesel locomotives, I have started to see the light.

The 30210/V200 and the 00796 passenger car set have now been added to my "must purchase" 2010 list!

Hi Rob,

I am glad that you have joined the "gang". The re-introduced 3021 (#30210) is a 'must have" locomotive, especially for those you do not have this locomotive in their collection. It looks so majestic on any layout. I am sure you are going to have many years of enjoyment with this classic.

I am glad that you have joined the "gang". The re-introduced 3021 (#30210) is a 'must have" locomotive, especially for those you do not have this locomotive in their collection. It looks so majestic on any layout. I am sure you are going to have many years of enjoyment with this classic.

Cheers,
Ranjit

Hello Ranjit,

Thanks for the welcome. Interestingly enough, contemplating the V200 model brought back a long forgotten memory from my childhood.

While living in Germany as a ten year old, a friend's father took us to his job. He was an engineer for the DB. We visited one of the locomotives he drove, including a tour of the cab. It just happened to be a V200 / BR 220. Unfortunately, I was so enamored with the BR 103 at the time, I didn't understand the significance of this fine locomotive.

Bye,
Rob

This is my wish-list for 2010:

1) 39081 - German DB VT08.5, looks like a really great model
2) 37573- German Br 103.1 to pull the new (re-issued) Interregio coaches 43500-43503 + 43550 (from last year)
(Inspired by this photo: BR103.1 Interregio)
3) 30210 V200.0 + Tin plate coaches

Then my kids really liked the online TGV promotion video...so maybe Santa will come with the TGV this year....

I might change my mind during the year, as I did last year, and the year before, depending on reviews on this forum and
the German stummi-forum...

Oh, this is my first posting here in this forum. So I got back to the hobby 2 years ago (after 25 years). Have been doing the usual stuff in the mean time...youth,university, girls, beer, marriage, got 3 kids (boys aged 6-11)....and now (2 years ago ) daddy has introduced model-railroading for them. It cannot really compete with Nintedo Wii yet, but daddy plans to start building a permanent layout this year, so we will see how it goes.

So I must say that things have changed a lot in 25 years...to the better. I like the digital stuff, and the models
looks great now, with much more detail, especially the steamers, so I acquired 2 of the new tooling steamer models last year, with the ESU loksound decoder (BR 64 and BR 001). They are really great models.

For this year's models, I think the re-issued DB BR103.1 (now probably with proper ESU loksound) will be a good choice, based on the positive reviews of the current 37575 (E03 001) . I know that the BR103.1 is really area IV and the interregio (IR) is really area V, but it does not really matter...the only difference from the photo is really the new DB (Deutsche Bahn) logo, (which does not really look good on that old classic). I lived in Germany during the 90's and I travelled a lot with IR to visit my German girlfriend then (now wife), so I have some nostalgia for early era V,.....then the 30210 with tin plate coaches are also desirable. It cannot be compared with last years BR220 (V200 (39803)) (which I also got), ....but nice with the "DEUTCHE BUNDESBAHN" inscription and the small Märklin inscription in one of the lower corners of the locomotive

and by the way, welcome to the forum!

I agree that it is expensive. Same as all Marklin and model railroading in general.
This F7 does have 2 motors, MFX and full sound and three metal shells (simple old tool probably).
At $666 at Euromodeltrains it is about porportonal to anything else.

Agree, Eric - but not all of them. Those tinplate coaches come for a modest €30 and are worth every cent. Nice.

Okay, for the record, I've come to the realization that I am an addict. I'm addicted to Model Railroading. So much so, that It's sending me into the poor house. So, with that in mind, here's my "Fix" for 2010.[note]If this keeps up, I'm going to have to come out of retirement in order to feed my habit.Huh

[img]https://www.marklin-users.net/upload/Community/Notpublic/James/BR 23.pdf[/img]

First, I'm going to clear up last years acquisitions, that is, first on the list, this hot ticket item. This should nicely cap off my steam roster, leaving only a BR 78 remaining to handle my Preiserlings.

UserPostedImage

Next, this classic T.E.E. beauty, needed to replace my analogue T.E.E., and definitely easier than upgrading my current E 03.

UserPostedImage

By the time I add these two to my roster, this heavyweight should be back [from it's trip to the Fatherland] and residing at my dealers shop. It should provide excellent tractive power for my ever expanding industries.

UserPostedImage

Then, considering how long stock travels down the pipes, I'm hoping to pick up this little jewel [one that I've been eagerly anticipating].

UserPostedImage

Lastly, IF, and I do mean IF, the finances allow, I will cap the year off with this classic Flagship. I believe that everyone who deals with Marklin should own one (Some, own more than one). My father really wanted one, and so in his honor, I'm going to try to get one.

The nice thing about this years offering is that there's not too many new "Items" this year, which will hopefully curb the addiction BigGrin
