I'm not thrilled with the new items either, but let not spoil the fun for those who are exited about them.

A lot of people in this topic have really been looking forward to this yearly event.

There are other topics were one can critise the policy of Marklin.

You may be right.

I'm not really criticizing Marklin...I'm just worried about Marklin, their future (only questions with "... ?..." ).
My single critic is about plastic, I 've seen only 3 new tooling (TGV and BR 491 and small diesel Lok) there are with plastic body. While Marklin was the single manufacturer to produce wide ranges of metal loco...

I do like very much DCM motors because this kind of motor are powerful and able to last 150 years and to outlive any one of us. ThumpUp .I agree with Roberto : the soul of Marklin is back.
I do like SDS motors as well.....almost for the same reasons + without maintenance ( while DCM needs maintenance) + small size allowing it to be hidden...+...+..+...+..
But now in 2010, If I were obliged to choose between DCM and "Brushless-SDS" technology : I choose Brushless-SDS technology.

I find it a good idea to re-edit many models. Many people missed them (including me), I think it's an opportunity for dealers to restocking with those basics from Marklin and for us to find them again. I noticed also : for some of these re-editions : it is their first MFX version so I guess Marklin wants to cover their whole range with MFX. ( some of this former models were only FX)Same for us : if dealers make correct restocking ,it will be an opportunity during one or 2 years, with the models we have missed , to complete our MFX range.

There is not a lot of new tooling, the reason is easy to understand ...
This year seems to be a year of transition . Marklin is waiting for a new owner who will have to choose and to define himself which policy of production

Above all I'm confident about Marklin and their Digital system , probably the best. I feel that it will not stop to be improved, they have a good team + a good deal with serious subcontractors...

I'm interested in EMD F7 , Mikado, BR 45, , V 140 , VT 08,.... I like the Swiss range as well + the mega start set with CS2...
The TGV will be surely better than Mehano Jouef TGV ( here in France, Jouef-Mehano TGV models were very criticized )

You're right. I think ventilation grills and machine room windows are also new.
No SDS, but 4 axles powered.

BTW: they now write "seriell schaltbare Geräuschfunktionen" (serially switchable soundfunctions) for several of their locos.
This refers to the cheapo sound board that can only play one sound at a time ...
They found a positive description for this restriction. ThumpUp

Cem, try Stephen's original link, or try the pdf file download link I created.

The new forum software does not show all characters of a url. If the url gets copied, then characters get left out of it, and therefore does not work.

To save you looking back through the thread, here they are again.

Stephen's Lokshop link

PDF file I created of the same thing!

(Adrian's link has an extra '[' on the end of it, probably that is why it doesn't work.)

Lokshop has put their price up for MHI items..
they offer a very slight discount on 37453 at 484 Euros w/VAT or 407 w/o..

For comparison, last year's Trix 22145 was 380 Euros w/VAT or 319 w/o - but being a DC model, it came without any decoder.

As far as I can tell it's just a difference in the colour of the wheels and pantographs.

In the technical department it looks the same to me.

What type of motor would they fit there though, John?
It certainly be a can motor, but Marklin/Trix now has a number of can motor types to choose from in their inventory; so which one?
As always, Marklin brochure is as informative as ever and leave a question mark...

Mikados use Maxxon motor; which is an incredibly good, smooth running piece of beauty. Trix fitted this in their recent BR218s and BR23s; so let's hope that this is what Marklin's going to put on their Re4/4 I, BR110/140, and BR294.

It look as if the E50 on that 29500 would be powered by a can motor, rather than SDS as with article 39500.

Right, Tim - I was referring to the Mikado.

For the more expensive models, Marklin use either Maxon or Faulhaber motors. I think both are very good motors.

They tried this before with other items and some worked and some didn't. I am reluctant to buy some of this stuff because I think we will see it on clearance later in the year when it doesn't sell.

I thought Pluta said 4Mfor would be cancelled altogether? I did find it strange because it seems they are very succesful products.

Thank you Charlie, although the new products are not impressive, at least military series are still active, now they seem to use more the Afganistan force of ISAF, which is cool, i like their camouflage.
Well done M. ThumpUp
I hope a V300 to take the "warpath" in camouflage livery, in order to be able to pull my whole 4mfor panzer batallion.
An outsider.
I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

What type of motor would they fit there though, John?

Mikados use Maxxon motor; which is an incredibly good, smooth running piece of beauty. Trix fitted this in their recent BR218s and BR23s; so let's hope that this is what Marklin's going to put on their Re4/4 I, BR110/140, and BR294.

.

Brand new motors always run well (including cheap motors)

"Rendez vous" after 1000 hours of run. Have a stop at midway : 500/600 hours and make some measurements and comparisons...Wink

Finally the Zeppelin comes with a "wooden"-looking propeller...

So far for me - the BR45 & Zeppelin + a request for 3 propellers as spare parts... Wink
Will have to look closer at the new offerings, some wagons might be interesting...

When that Glass-train comes in "original DRG" livery, I might consider it - was very tempted by the Roco version some years ago...

Still waiting for 2 of the 2009 items...

Also waiting for 4Mfor items of earlier, maybe less "politically correct" periods...

I don't think it's wrong to re-release models, especially not the ones that span eras... The BR 45 was released as DB & Bellinggrodt as well as Insider, but has now finally a version suitable for me... Even if it's MHI "one time series"...
