Dear friends, from five years up to now a group of marklinists from Chile have been seeing each other every once in a while, at the beginning it was just a cup of coffee in downtown Santiago, then when the group was growing the perfect excuse was a nice barbecue in a member house, at that time It was just a bunch of friends with something common to talk about and some marklin trains to play with.

Two years ago I was invited to the group, even if I’m not a formally marklinist I found in them a common way of seeing the hobbie so that was the right place to be.

This is the web page of the group.

http://www.marklincafechile.cl/marklincafe.htm

More or less one year ago the group decided to start building a marklin modular layout, with no previous experience the group just “jump in” building the first modules. These are those first images of those modules:

The second modular meeting was "Wife and family oriented":

Ther third modular meeting was just members trying to solve some technical issues, as usual.

The fourth meeting was for starting to watch some trains moving in some already decorated modules.

What a fantastic thread you have opened up Gustavo! Your photos are simply wonderful. You have some very clever and skilled people in your club, the level of detail in those scenes is wonderful.

Our Marklin club is also in the process of building some modules. We hope to interface them to the club's main layout, but we also hope to get together with other Marklin enthusiasts from around NZ and join up with their modules.

Thanks for sharing with us.

How inspirational those pictures are !!!

Makes me want to start working on a layout instead of having loose track everywhere.

The railway bridge is very nice, was that made by someone?

If I may ask what is size of each module?

A great idea if you are nomad like me and need to move countries every so often.

Thanks for that.

Very nice layout and pictures.Smile

How many modules are there? Do they have a set order or can you mix them up? Did you have to cut the C-track at the module joints?

I wish there was a Marklin club like that in my area. What a great group to belong to. Please post more pictures as more modules are worked on.

Cheers...

Thank you all for the warm reception.

I will upload some photos of the joints between the modules tomorrow. All modules can be mix each other with the exception of the new big station. Also there is module with a purpose of divide the two lines to the side.

Giving the possibility to grow into a different direction or just go back using a loop.

Thanks for the close up pictures. I guess that is one of the great things about C-track is the ability to snap them together so easy. Precise woodworking would be needed to make sure the modules are the right length for the tracks. Did you buy the hardware fittings or are they custom made?

Thanks

Hi

Congratulations! It's impressive how nicely C-track can look, if you really have the clear notion of what to add and how to do it, to make it close to reality. Another thing: we tend to overfill our layout with track, but looking at all these beautiful details of landscape, cars, houses, trees, etc. properly aged, with just a simple double track passing by, can make a lot of difference and can really improve the overall scenery.

Cheers,

Nuno Smile

Hi, Gustavo,
Looking at your site brought a smile to my face. It's obvious how much fun everyone is having and that your members really enjoy each other's company. I must say that the still photographs are stunning. They are so professionally done that Marklin could use some of them in their catalog. Do you think it's possible for the photographer to post a short summary of how he achieved the "look" of the photographs? They seem to have been taken outdoors.

Keep having fun!
Regards,
Tom Cox
